Apparently,on BBC Wales news last night, it was reported that the last bit of legal red tape had been done, reverting common ground to land that can be owned and built on,it seems this has not gone away yet..
And now all they need is the money wobble

Seems they'll be announcing the financial backing soon - they sound quite confident about it.

While there may be those complaining about the numbers they're claiming for visitors and investment (I get it, I really do) can any petrolhead who lives near this really not be excited about the prospect of having a world class circuit on their back door? I'm very much looking forward to my first trackday there smile.

I'm with you on this. Highly sceptical as whether it will happen or not, but sincerely hope it does and can't wait to drive it.

Snap smile

Fingers crossed for this and all the other major projects planned for the area get the green light, especially the Lagoon in Swansea Bay.

So Aviva are the main investor backing this.

Looks very promising! Much more so than "unamed middle eastern" or secretive "US billionaire ".

Well that's far more well known than I expected!

I'm a little surprised to be honest, Aviva wouldn't get involved if they didn't expect to make a profit. Maybe they think having a big name attached will make people take the circuit more seriously. Better than Donington's old "Simply Sausages" anyway smile.

Im very sceptical of the project but if it can be built which does look likely it can be a huge boost to the local area also having a world class track close by is something I would love. I be there with my turbo exocet kit car on the first event.

From what I gather there are serious holes in the financials at the moment and still the issue of state aid. Not likely to see much progress for 12-18 months

Maybe the Welsh Government and TVR know something we don't:

I was told by someone the other day that Aviva have made no statement about their involvement in the Circuit of Wales. Apparently it was a rumour that the BBC ran with, rather than checking the facts. A quick Google doesn't show anything from Aviva, which is odd.

I just re-read the articles and they do say "Aviva is expected to the backer" rather that outright say it's them.

With TVR going up there, I'd be very surprised if they doesn't come off now. It would be pointless for TVR to be based up there without the track, even if one of my favourite roads in the world is just a couple of miles away.

"The Welsh Government has said it cannot underwrite the £357m Circuit of Wales project in Ebbw Vale.
The economy minister said there was a "significant question around the viability of the project" and an "unacceptable risk" to the government underwriting the entire project."

Damn right, too. Would have loved to have seen this happen but that's no way to invest.

Wonder if this will affect TVR's decision to go there
