Where to eat in Cardiff

Mrs 13m and I will be spending a few days there imminently. We have some business to attend to, but should have time to do some sightseeing and of course eating.
We will probably take a look at the National Museum but I'd be interested to hear about any other favourites.
Restaurant-wise Italian, fish and grills are favourite. Any tips please chaps?

If you can get out to the National Museum in St Fagans too. An on sight Victorian bakery and shops.We will probably take a look at the National Museum but I'd be interested to hear about any other favourites.

Plenty of eateries with most of the franchises covered but I am a fan of The Grazing Shed burgers, use the small one on Barrack Lane for the better service.
Viva Brazil is excellent value for carnivores.
I used to work in Cardiff - I second Grazing Shed burgers (they are amazing) and if you're hungry for a sandwich, then try New York Deli.

Cardiff is full of great places to eat at the moment I love the custom house and go the at least once a month. Pier 64 is also good! Other places to try are moksh cardiff bay, Madeira cardiff Central and this evening me and Mrs p tried etc in pensrth was very nice indeed!
Now you're confusing the issue! We are only there for 2 nights and I have booked Fish and Field and Custom House. Perhaps I should extend our stay just to try more restaurants.;)13m said:

Apologies for the confusion, haven't been to fish and field but custom house I find great, excellent service and a good choice with a great atmosphere. Repeat visit could be on the cards then 94OD said:

Noticed you're staying in St Davids - spent a night there last week for the first time, lovely hotel. Breakfast is top notch!

It's in an "unassuming" building in an odd location from which under normal circumstances I'd not set foot in. In fact when I arrived I wondered whether the person recommending it above was the owner, or someone having a laugh.
Once inside it looked a bit like a cross between someone's lounge and a pub that had been stripped for refurbishment. It appears to be owned by two chefs, one of whom cooks and the other single-handedly waits table. There was also, I think, a junior chap in the kitchen.
The partner waiting table was quite impressive to watch. He was almost pouring wine with one hand whilst writing out bills with the other and sweeping the floor with a broom up his backside. He still had time to banter with customers and generally be a good host.
I had lemon sole and my wife had the bass. Both were excellent.
It was an enjoyable experience and I'd recommend the place both because it's good and also because I have a lot of admiration for the work ethic of the owners.
Thank you to everyone who made recommendations, we mostly stuck to places that you guys suggested and all were great.
