As per the title really, I'm just in the process of buying an '06 XKR and looking for a local specialist to look after it. Has anyone come across Sterling Jag in Cwmbran?

http://www.sterlingjags.co.uk

Or any other recommendations in the same area?

cheers

They have been about for years and are actually closer to Newbridge than Cwmbran, not sure on there services though as driving past it normally looks like a scrap yard for Jags outside...

Strangely their website shows them as being in two locations..

"Swffryd.Nr Newport. South Wales." and on another page..

"Unit 37, John Baker Close.
Llantarnum Industrail Park
Llantarnum.
Cwmbran.
Gwent.
NP44 3AX."

I did call them a few days ago to ask if they did modern Jags and I rang an 01633 number (Cwmbran) via a Google search. Their website is full of errors but I guess they have moved from one premise to another.

I'll find out where they are and maybe pop in to have a look. Not bothered by their crappy website, or even if they have a load of old cars parked up outside. So long as they know their stuff.

Anyone actually used them? Or recommend somewhere else reasonably local?

I used them years ago when I ran a XK8. Always very helpful and no complaints about the work they did.

Good to know, thanks.

Were they in Cwmbran or Swffryd?

I think this is the bloke whose workshop burnt down. He was 'homeless' for a while, and came to do some work for us / use our workshop. If he's the same bloke that I think it is, he was very slow and relaxed while working, but seemed to finish job very quickly - always a good sign.

I actually have his mobile number, so if you wanted to pm me, I'd be happy to share his name and number.

Swffryd. Not the smartest looking of garages by any stretch but car was always well looked after.

If it's the Jag dealership on the main road through Swfryd then that was burnt down a few years ago, they're around by Screwfix these days I think in Cwmbran

Ah, that would explain the 2 addresses then. I'm due an MOT and service next month so think I'll pop in and see what theyre like - I work pretty close to their address in Cwmbran and they seem to have a decent reputation so worth a look!

Will report back!

I pass the swffryd garage quite a lot, there's still a few old XJS's that have been left to rot outside, one of them's a V12 too. frown

Has anyone used them for more modern cars? I've got a couple of jobs that need doing on a 2014 XFR and Stratstone can't fit me in until 6 March.

Failing that, has anyone used Cardiff Jag and Performance in Pentwyn?

I cant comment on newer Jags but I had my 2006 XKR serviced, MOT'd and a new set of pads fitted a few weeks ago. Very good service and no issues with the work done.

I used to work for this company. The owner is called Dave Williams. Sadly the garage in swffrydd burned badly. I have fond memories of that place. However, he has now moved on and is running the company from llantarnam park in Cwmbran. I can only recommend Dave very highly. Can be a bit slow on times, but he does a quality job, and knows EVERYTHING there is to know about Jags, and is fantastic with anything old or new.

I've just bought a Jag and went to find Sterling Jaguar. They have moved again but are still in Cwmbran.
The address is 16A Springvale Industrial Estate.
I went and had a good chat with Dave and booked my X351 in for a gearbox service.
The garage seems a bit crowded outside but Dave seems very knowledgeable. I hope to report good things!
