Yep, pretty sure you will like Cardiff. Not huge, easy enough to move around, decent parks and easy access to city centre, rivers/the bay, beach etc. And just generally a decent amount going on.

Oh, and you know you have to learn Welsh don’t you?

I’m joking, I doubt 10/20% speak Welsh here. I would suspect there’s quite a healthy Egyptian community if you seek them out.

You do have to be conversant with Gavin and Stacey though. It’s on iplayer and very funny.

If you are sold on Rhiwbina get your name down now for the school it can be oversubscribed.

What are yours and hubby’s interests (sleeping I’d guess for him) what department will he be working?

UHW itself is massive, it has restaurant, concourse with shops etc, even a small pool. Parking can be expensive there and the parking company are barstewards. Park further out or bus it.
Good tip! If we get the house I will definitely do that!

Hubby has lots of hobbies! Football is the main one he used to play 3 times a week here in Nottingham so he is looking for a group to join who play regularly! Hasn’t found one yet.
Likes long walks
Diving!
Sight seeing etc.

He will be working in the children’s department at Noah’s Ark! And parking for staff is it not free?

You definitely need a garden for them to burn off some energy. A safe garden gives you a break too, you can sit with a cold drink and they’ll knacker themselves. That’ll give you more uality time in the evenings. One he’s lived in a house he won’t go back.

Some lovely properties to buy here when he’s a consultant!!

You don’t seem to accept mails, I was going to send you my number as it’s easier o chat through stuff.
Haha exactly when I take them to the park they come back all nice and calm and usually ready for bed at the right time! Would be great to have that at home!!
I was looking at houses for sales some very nice ones! Hopefully one day we will get there! His plan is to become a consultant soon :-)

Sent you a mail.

Thanks

No free staff parking as far as I’m aware.

Noah’s ark is a great relatively new building. I’d be tempted to walk across Heath park and in through the side gate.

Plenty of amateur football in Cardiff, there’s 5 a side pitches at Whitchurch high school, futsal in Llanishen, doubtless there’ll be diving in Cardiff penarth or Barry. Once you’re in Cardiff access to west ales is less than 2 hours, coast beaches, castles everywhere.

Depends what part. Caerphilly is a very variable area.

It's not a bad location and close to Aber Station which will take you to Heath in about 20 minutes but I don't know about the schools.

Great thank you! Our little ones are 1 and 2 so not too worried about schools at the moment but will need to find some nicer areas with good schools in a year or 2. Unfortunately it’s been such a struggle to find anywhere to rent all the good ones are taken as soon as they are put on the market without viewing! Crazy! Thanks again I will call them tomorrow to see if it’s available

The downside is that areas each side are not so desirable but it depends what you are prepared to pay. It seems surreal what rent is these days.

Oh no really, do you think by living there we will come in contact with any of the undesirables like I’m going to the supermarkets around there etc

No, it's not really like that, it's still a small town. You are less than half a mile from Lidl and a couple of pubs. Morrisons is about a mile, Asda and Aldi 2 miles. Several shops like B&M and Home Bargains.

The castle / town is about a mile and the mountain about a mile. Plenty of rural area for walking.

I have lived in Caerphilly since 1996 and have never had a single problem. The main frustration is that, as a town, it could be so much better but it is slowly improving, one or two nice restaurants, two new cocktail bars and so forth. Like any town, as Cardiff gets ever more expensive, they move to Caerphilly.

As long as you stay away from Lansbury Park and Senghenydd you should be fine.

Don’t forget Freecycle and Gumtree. Some cheaper stuff on Facebook marketplace.

Hubby will probably struggle to get to UHW in 15mins

Yes, you're looking at 20-30 minutes. Straight up to the top of Caerphilly mountain and down the other side, all plain sailing but speed limits are being reduced all the time.
You will get traffic coming out of Thornhill estate, at peak times and a bit of a queue going down to the Llanishen roundabout and over the railway ridge.
You can duck left at Maes-y-Coed Road and then right down Ton-yr-Ewen Avenue and across to St Ambrose Road if the traffic is bad on the main road.

The map at 17:15 is showing 20 minutes but between that and 30 minutes at 8am.
Can he ride a motorbike or even a 125/moped? That would be a lot quicker.
