Unmarked Police Cars, what ones you know?
Discussion
Three unmarked cars, with blue lights in the grill and windscreens, trying to make progress on the M4 at Port Talbot yesterday. Silver BMW 1 Series, followed by a white VW Caddy van, followed a few hundred metres behind by a Peugeot 308, possibly a GTi.
Today there was an unmarked green motorbike on the M4 at Llandarcy.

The mondeo st220 you saw would of been CN55 KNR this is one of the oldest cars they still have, reason for this is because its only used as an intercept car so has very little mileage on it unlike the other traffic cars.
there is also a 55 plate BMW still around which is ex driving school hence why it is still around, again low mileage.
the oldest volvos which they had were on 07 plates but these have now long gone.
hope this sorta explains for you.
Bringing this thread back from the archives. Newbie here. I now own CN55 KNR with 154k on clock!there is also a 55 plate BMW still around which is ex driving school hence why it is still around, again low mileage.

seen southbound A470 near whitchurch gold club today, silver ST220 CN55-KNR, which used to be a marked ANPR car, now fully unmarked, noticed 2 aerials on top, couldnt see any lights, but i was travelling northbound at the time so didnt get a full look
Newbie here. I now on CN55 KNR with 154k on clock!I had a 5 series jam sandwich hoon up to me on the new 50 mph bit of the A470 recently. Was down to 50 (with no brake lights )by the time he came alongside and then he nipped past, straddled both lanes and flashed a 50mph sign in his rear window. Was very impressed as he did it bilingually too He then dropped the hammer big time and did it to the next miscreant! The idea is to reduce pollution with this limit (my car drops from 7th to 5th so barely effective really...) but he was red-lining all the way LOL.
Its a frustration to be down to 50 on a rare bit of Welsh dual carriageway, having just shook off the city, and one that you have always done 70 on, but was impressed that they were giving a warning rather than just issuing invoices. I'd had my say here beforehand: https://beta.gov.wales/tackling-roadside-nitrogen-... Only 417 responses - no wonder the motorist gets clobbered...

Im sure someone had mentioned this before bit cant see it posted, but SWP have a navy blue Seat Supra VU18 CZH. Seen it lit up a few times but was behind it this weekend when it was returning to Gwaelod-y-Garth. Blue lights are very discreet until lit up.
Saw this on the a470 today, very discrete. Also see the silver ST Above now and then. Last saw it on the j34 slip dealing with a broken down car

I frequently drive that stretch, on electric. I'd love to have that discussion about "reducing pollution" whilst I get handed a speeding ticket.Evanivitch said:

This is it mate - they conspire to drop limits everywhere and purposefully clobber cars in town, causing tailbacks and misery (and probably MORE pollution), but all along more and more electric cars are hitting the roads so this issue is diminishing long term - plus with cleaner and cleaner cars generally... Insisting on Stop/Start tech for smelly buses stopped at bus stops half the time might be a help too! Sorry bit of an off topic rant - and have had my say in that survey i linked to above...

today on M4 Westbound at Tredegar 1115 ish-
I was going the other way - 18plate RS6 - dark blue couldn't catch all the plate 0Y18. Lit up at the front like a Christmas tree on the hard shoulder. Didn't know they were running those???
Had it pulled somebody over? A customer was running an RS6 a few years back and was fitted with blues and twos, but he wasn't in the police. There were 2 cars about 40ft in front of them on the hard shoulder that looked like they had been in some sort of incident as both parties were stood outside on the hard shoulder. Just thought it was strange to see that type of motor as an unmarked; though having said that, saw a black Q5 lit up going down Abany Road the other weekend.
