Not illegal to go past any car on the inside lane if its doing less than the speed limit, so long as you do not then immediately enter the lane its in, which would then be classed as undertaking.

I've long said that the worst drivers on the road are driving instructors and the police... one time, approaching a fixed speed camera at night, I had a Focus tailgating me and flashing his headlights continually, I just pulled in as soon as I could and let him past. Turned out the scumbag was a marked dog van. Put a formal complaint in to the force but, needless to say, heard nothing back...

CV16 KUT stopped on the roundabout in Cross Hands early afternoon, looked like it was assisting at a minor accident.
