What if it was done for free?
If it's done for free, then no problem - that's not hire and reward...

It's if it's done for money that the problems start to come along. Same as keeping a bigger wagon for a race (or horse) transporter.

I DO NOT WANT A FREEBIE.
Please understand I am willing to pay just not the mad prices from hire companies. I asked for help and advice not abuse.

OK. Thank you for advice. I would not want anyone to get in trouble. How would the law stand if I was to donate money?

Of course. However, as already pointed out paying for this service would mean contacting the driver's insurance company to arrange specific cover for this innocuous event.
The cost of this cover may make the whole thing not financially viable.

Hi
You might want to post your request in the regional PHers area.
I was going to offer for some one near me who asked on the 'south west' forum but i am away on holiday at the time.

This is true, but the poor guy has recieved a lot of snide and unhelpful comments.

He has offered to pay, cut him some slack PistonHeads ffs - he’s not a seasoned poster, just a proud dad looking to suprise his son

Shame that Pistonheads is fast becoming a hostile and irritating environment for new posters, with the unhelpful remarks at the top of the thread..
I thought its always been like that, and I like it!

I’ve browsed PH for several years, since the decline of the TVR and Ted era and signed up fairly recently.... PH was much better with TVR enthusiasts. Nowadays I see these posters describe TVR owners “as old farts” ....... just shows the change of demographic really. Most new members are trolls or keyboard warriors

I hope he can sort something.

I've driven loads of friends kids and friends of friends etc to weddings and birthdays or what have you. Nice to make a difference on a special occasion.

Not done it for a stranger though.

I can’t promise anything but how does he feel about Ferrari’s? I live in Norwich area Dad has F430 spider. He has never done anything like this before but I could ask to borrow or he could do it himself. What school is he at if you don’t mind me asking?

He loves Ferrari’s like us all. Any offers to assist me would be great.
The high School is the "OPEN" so the car park is new with no speed humps etc.

I have looked at hire cars from companies but I don't have £1500 for a days hire that's not mentioning the lottery win for a deposit.

As normal boys he dreams of Lamborghini's and he has a major soft spot for Nissan GT old versions and Nissan GTR. He also likes Mercedes C63 Black Editions.
I always told him dream high ……. words I now regret lol.
How about a TVR Sagaris in Chameleon Orange?

I would have suggested asking member Holmesy9 as he has a japanese white goods machine, but he'll be abroad on the 29th so unable to do it.

Best to ask family and friends if they know of anyone. I did a couple when I had the TVR, didn't wany any payment, I know what it was like as a young lad to see a nice car and how much it would have meant to just sit in something flash, let alone arrive to a prom in one, so it's a nice gesture for youngsters in my opinion.

I do think you've perhaps worded your request a little odd, but perhaps that's just your typing style!

Otherwise, I think it's all got a bit out of hand with this prom stuff, there's one or two at the top of my road each year and it's turned into a benchmark for the social classes as to what their child turns up in. Think outside the box IMO.....best i've seen....

A stty builders van pulled up (behind a lovely classic jag may I add) the rear doors opened and they'd installed a fog machine in there somehow, the smoke billowed out, then the stereo came on, Hot in Here by Nelly and out stepped two suited and booted lads, was absolutely brilliant and I was gutted I didn't have my phone on me.

That was classy and took some thought...
