The annual car meeting is being held on 4th April 2020.
As is usual a very fine mix of vintage, classic and modern classic cars will be gathering at the White
Lion in Ufford. Great beer and grub, eclectic mix of vehicles and owners.

What's all this about then - I'm just down the road so would make a nice little jaunt. Are there any details anywhere?

Wasn't the best event last year, partly due to the weather. I think someone said it had lost it's affiliation with the Bentley gang, and certainly last year the numbers of pre war cars were down.
I'll still be going if it's not chucking it down and the parking field has dried out.

I think that the pre war stuff is definitely declining at most shows, unless specific. Of the steam rallies I attend each seasonI have noted the steady decline to a mere handful at many of the shows
It’s all rather sad but I suppose normal as we all age and the young generation have more interest in the 1970’s and 80’s. I know when I had pre war young people didn’t even bother to stop for a look at the shows, naturally they were dribbling over the Ford Escorts and Capri.
See you there !

Just in case you didn't find it: http://www.uffordwhitelion.co.uk/events/

The really old classics may be on the decline and that is a shame but there is usually a good variety in the car park as a bonus and the burgers are good. Lets hope for some good weather.

Whilst you are definitely correct on the general decline, there was a noticeable absence of a lot of the regular Bentley and Rolls crowd who are normally in the top corner of the field. I'm sure I read it here or heard it on the field that the Bentley club wasn't involved any more.

I'm sure I read that on here in the past as well. Shame as they are great to see.

Well, by erm, popular demand, I'll endeavour to bring the R5GTT, though
I'd appreciate a parking space a tad more suitable for a guy with gammy
legs and hands, especially if the grass is wet. After 21 months of inactivity,
following my fall at Sheringham, it'll be a good start to the show season.
I can barely believe it was 2017 since I last visited!

I should add that the Lowiepete Spring Detailing Day is not happening this
year by virtue of us "borrowing" the unit where we meet. It isn't fair on
them, so it's probably only the Autumn meet that's happening this year.

Steve

I recall seeing your 5GT at Ufford, very nice it is to. I had one back in 1986 purchased new. One or two faults came to light, it had fuel vaporisation problems and need frequent oil changes after a fair number of engines apparently detonated. Renault had a service schedule of 6000 mile intervals and reduced it to 3000 miles. Overall though a great car, huge fun and I wish I still had one in my garage.

Thanks. I enjoyed that trip out as it was the car's first shakedown run
after being hidden in my garage for 15 years. Every time I take it out
these days, I get offer after offer to sell it. It went back to the dealer
for its 30th and it broke their internet records. More offers to buy!

Sadly, with so many events now being cancelled, I've SORNed the
car for the time being. Hopefully, next year...

Steve

Not at all surprised your 5GT attracts attention and offers, how much cash would persuade you to part with it whistlejester
Owing to the poxy virus I have now taken the decision to give Ufford a miss this year, a great shame I was so looking forward to it.
