Arrived a few days ago, picked up a cheap Mitsubishi Legnum form Turners just to get us around whilst we find a place to live etc. The hope was to run it into the ground for 6 months then trade it up for something decent. The 2.5l V6 is pretty grunty, it has space for the kid plus everything we need to carry. Perfect shed.

Only problem is the bloody thing has just broken down whilst we were viewing a rental.

All towed back to our AirBnB but now I've got to find someone who can come round to Long Bay and fit a new starter motor (a very helpful man called Josh stopped and took a look and he's pretty sure its the starter as he says the bushes look screwed), or find somewhere to get it towed to to get it done.

And now I guess I'll need to hire a car or book taxis until I find a place to live, and only got 3 more days in our AirBnB with a broken down car outside.

Bah!!!!!

Rant over.

As they say in here in NZ .... "Bugger !!"

(look up Toyota Hilux Bugger advert on web - it might make you feel at least a little better)

Double bugger, if you bought car from a dealer, you would have legal comeback, even if you're not a permanent resident.
Unfortunately I don't think that applies to auction houses.

Generally most garages here are pretty honest, and won't screw you. As it's much smaller population, word gets around and places like that tend to go bust a lot quicker ....
