Hi all. Just returned from a road trip down to central Sth of France in a Land Rover and small trailer and am shocked @ just how Euros much I’ve been rinsed by the tolls. The toll tickets have “ Class one “ printed on them, so I’m assuming that this is the cheapest rate ?

I need to go back down again in a van, ideally a Merc Sprinter, which due to its hight I believe is going to cost a lot more ?

Class 1 is under 2m in height and under 3.5 ton, doesn’t add any more for trailer.

Sprinter will be class 2 as it’s over 2m high.

Except if the trailer frame is higher than 2 meters. Then, I forgot to which higher class you go...
For the OP, cheapest class is 5: motorbikes. 4 being the highest in term of cost (trucks from 3 axles).

It is always good to check the class before paying: sensors can sometimes mistaken. You can use Viamichelin website: they will tell you how much you should pay, to double check.

French highways are not cheap, nothing new. But 130kmh and most of the time recent, quiet and "draining surfacing" (limit water spillage)
