Just about to hit the fastest bit of the track where you come past the end of the armco and get hit by the cross-wind yikes

Some of us weren't going fast enough to notice that tongue out, how did the Westie feel on the surface change through the esses at Levels? I was noticing less grip on the new (blacker) stuff but it was nice and smooth.

If that's the bit where the pitlane exit joins in then EVERYONE at the track noticed you having less grip hehe particularly the last session or two in the afternoon. driving

I found the sudden arrival of the right-hander at the end of the pit straight so abrupt that the speed through the esses was slow enough to not have any grip issues.

Of course there had been that bit of rain mid-afternoon and I didn't go back out on the track after that, and there had been a few cars leaving their fluids around the place. That might have contributed to the grip issues.

At Ruapuna there was a brand new bit of surfacing from Jeff's Corner through to Dunlop that must have only been a week old. No edge marking or anything. Most road cars were struggling through there but once the sun got going I had grip for africa and was catching cars at a ridiculous rate.

I had the biggest split to the second fastest car at Ruapuna out of all the three tracks - around 5 or 6 seconds per lap smile

It's when I see videos like this I realise how ridiculous looking it is for the XTR2 to be a trackdays with some other cars. Still more fun and more social than real racing tongue out

rofl I was certainly drawing on the gravel skills to get that one back!

thumbup I would have liked to do that one too but the whole moving house thing kinda got in the way. What was second fastest, the Redline with wing/diffuser etc?

I was quite happy to be on similar pace to the Targa NZ MX5 with sticky tyres etc, and hassling a lot of faster cars than mine through the corners.

Yep. Kevin is a very good driver and in the morning would only have been a second or two slower but once the track heated up the Westie was flying. Not such a significant straight at Ruapuna and LOTS of corners with a really good rhythm driving
