Considering a move out that way so would really welcome any real world experience of the area; commuting, schools crime etc.
Ideally we'd be looking at a 4-5 bed detached house with a bit of space, walkable to good primary & secondary schools.

I'm not too far away. It's a nice town to live in with nice villages on the outskirts. It frequently ranks in the top ten of places to live in.

Commuting to London by train is around 45 minutes, but it's a busy line.

I would happily live there if I could afford it.

Nearby Tonbridge is serviced by two train operating companies (Southern and SouthEastern).

Probably not helpful, but something that I found interesting.

Great town.. Surrounding countryside is a peach and theres some great driving roads

Coast drive time is 60 mins (hastings / Rye / Bexhill / Eastbourne

London city 50 mins by train

Local country pubs are varied and offer great food, but wouldn't say they are well priced.

Low crime.. Fairly affluent area.. A safe place to live.

I live between Tunbridge Wells and Tonbridge, nice area to live.
Close to really nice country side.
The area is renowned for its excellent selection of schools.
Very good train links, and A21 from Jnc 5 of the M25 dual carriageway with no speed cameras smile Yet.

Although the A26 is a nightmare, can take up to 30 minutes to travel the 3 miles from where I live to TW, I use Tonbridge most of the time much easier to get to.

Excellent Sushi restaurant. No booze license so take your own for a very reasonable corkage charge.

I've lived near Tunbridge Wells for all of my life although never in the town itself.

As others have said its a nice place to live, reasonably expensive in the nice areas. Crime wise I don't think there's any real issues, I expect there's a bit on antisocial behavior in the town centre at the weekends as the bars and clubs do (or at least always did) attract lots of people from the surrounding areas.

I personally would find Tunbridge Wells a bit too busy to live in and would much prefer one of the villages in the area and just use the town for shopping and socializing.
