If you want to go for a drive in kent and then park up safely.
a beachfront and get a coffee and go for a walk , watch the sea. Little clubhouse or refreshment hut.

Somewhere for a couple of hours to chill. Not an all day venue.
I usually go minnis bay or herne bay.
Can anyone suggest somewhere different for when all this c19 end. Thanks.

Deal and especially Walmer are great places to visit. Plenty of parking along Walmer seafront and a (currently open) coffee shop near the lifeboat station.

Reculver's quite a good spot.

I like Dungeness. With the nuclear plant to your back though.

St Margaret’s Bay? There’s a drinks/snack hut in the car park, can follow the coastal path up towards Kingsdown and back

All of the above suggestions are good. I like Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Sandwich too.

HerneBaydos is nice if you park at the Hampton end and walk through to Tankerton.

A lot of Thanet gets too busy in the summer. This might help:

I much prefer Dungeness and have a coffee or meal at the RHDR Dungeness Station or The Britannia Inn.

Or slight curveball, but what about Samphire Hoe? https://www.samphirehoe.com/ £2 for parking all day, it's concrete around the perimeter, but does have a sandy or shingle beach at the eastern end.

I too rate Reculver. The car park is the starting point for our bike rides into Margate/Broadstairs/Ramsgate and the King Ethelbert Inn and the Cafe Reculver are both pretty good.

If you want to sit in your car and watch the comings and goings then, the National Trust White Cliffs car park has spaces that face towards the harbour, has toilets and the NT Cafe (when it all re-opens).

You can park on the beach in Sandwich Bay over the other side of Princes Golf club too.

Did that in early summer last year, very pleasant.

When it opens back up... the cliff top cafe at capel le ferne... Great on a motorbike as there is dedicated bike parking but ok size car park too. Just down the road from the Battle of Britain memorial.

Avoid central whitstable, difficult to find parking and full of DFL’s.
Seasalter probably going to be quietest and easiest place to park and you can get a costa coffee before you turn off to seaslter

Hastings is alright.
There’s a big car park near the old town. Fish and chips on the beach etc. Lovely roads in the area.

The old town area is nice, the rest of it.. well it’s faded glory like a lot of UK seaside resorts.

Agreed, but Hastings isn't in Kent.

To be fair, it's pretty close though!

Hythe - park up at the Sandgate end - by the garage/curry house.

You've got great walks down the promenade to the Hythe Imperial Hotel with its champagne bar etc or head into Sandgate itself and sample the antiques shops and the wonderful Ship Inn. There's a traditional ice cream kiosk at the Sandgate car park and usually a Citroen H type van selling crepes on the Hythe stretch. Also on the seafront somewhere there is an old Fishermans' hut where you can buy freshly caught scallops cooked and served in a bun, but that is a bit of a local secret and far too good to share with you lot.

Highly recommended.

Op here.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Good stuff . Once the weather breaks a bit i will hit the coast and report back.
Need to expand my horizons further than my go 2s of herne bay , minnis bay, hastings and Dymchurch.

Dungeness, the epitome of bleak. Fascinating place though.

Sticks.

Dungeness is interesting, but if you turn left when you hit the coast rather than right, this spot is good to park up https://goo.gl/maps/3gjPJyrnRyHdWt6g9

Hastings is my nearest coastal town and although I like the Old Town, and the lifts, nature reserve, I rarely go there. Nicer, imho, for a walk/cycle ride is St Leonards https://goo.gl/maps/3JHerW81eNZsW3JG9. The coastal path stretches for miles and along to Bexhill, which is where I usually choose to go https://goo.gl/maps/Q5cNqoHX3DyfPNNTA

Much as I like it though, I'm not sure I'd recommend it if you've a long way to travel (an hour is enough for me). I find it a bit more laid back and friendly than Hastings, cleaner, but not so much there. You can park along the seafront, the De La Warr is great (closed atm) but there's enough places to get coffee or lunch. You may well see me outside the Sovereign Light Cafe cool
