Heading back home for a couple of weeks in August always good to visit but man Brighton has become so dirty so depressing
I go back to the UK for a fortnight every year and find the South East to be crowded and dirty. North Yorkshire still glorious. I stayed a few nights at the Grand in Brighton a couple of years ago. I couldn't believe the number of dossers and beggars on the streets. The bus shelters across the street from the Grand were full of winos day and night and if you left the hotel to walk towards the Lanes you ran the gauntlet of 30 or so aggressive beggars outside the Odeon. It put me off ever going back to Brighton.

That bit of Brighton has always been a bit crap. I’m a bit nervous to go back there actually, it was an amazing place to grow up and I’m proud of what it was. It’s all becoming a bit ‘white diesel 5 series BMW’ for me. I understand the Green council they elected have been too focused on wheelie bins and cycle lanes and have maybe ignored a few other things.

Anyway I shall avoid a political discussion here. Thanks for the clarification on RFE vs RFI to the chap above.

And that's why when we moved back, for personal family reasons, we came back to Cornwall, me 'ansomes. (Rent our Hernando home out)

Hello all .......long time no post .......but just wanted to pick the collective PH hive mind on this ........family and I are looking to move to the US in the next 6 months (wife is US citizen, as is daughter {duel citizen} and I have a Green Card)....
My question is really one of employment ........

We are intending to move to Colorado (west Denver/Boulder/Evergreen/Golden) - a slight change from our original san diego plan .......but a death in the family has kinda forced our hand .......

I have been in the finance industry in London for a long time (business manager / COO type roles most recently), which I know is not particularly prevalent in CO.
I have done the usual Linkdin search thing, and done a few 'cold' intro letters ......but to no avail.

Does anyone here have any contacts, direct or employment agency, in the region that they could put me in touch with?

thanks in advance

From what I've read in other (immigration related) forums, applying for jobs prior to arrival in the US tends to be pointless/frustrating/demoralizing.

Admittedly I was at the lower end of the totem pole, but I had a similar experience. Most HR morons see that you’re not in the US yet and throw it in the bin.
