I've just bought Stilton in Aldi this morning. yee haw.
This may not sound like a big deal for anyone in or near New York, but down here in the poorer parts of NJ.it is.

Small wedge $3.99, not the best I've ever had, but good enough.

I was once in a Motorhead press conference (long story, I'm not a journo!) and the subject of Lemmy moving to California came up. When asked what he missed most about England his one word answer was "Cheese".

Seems like a pretty sound reason for not moving stateside.

Get down to your local Trader Joe's for a decent selection of proper English cheeses!

It’s the only place I can get proper cheddar. Try the English Coastal Cheddar. I’ve been converting as many Americans as I can away from the blocks of bright orange tasteless plastic they call cheddar.

I found stilton in the local King Soopers (kroger). Can't stand it normally, so didn't buy, but it's available.

More concerned that my brandy butter stock is running low.

No King Scoopers or Krogan grocery in New Jersey, not sure why, they're in 39 other States !

Maybe they don't need our NJ Dollars

I’ve never seen Stilton in Kroger. We have a couple of good deli’s in Indy that sell good European cheese but at extortionate prices. American cheese sucks and most of their palates seem to reject anything that’s not processed.

I love cheese and one of the joys of going to France was buying it at the local markets. However my wife persuaded me to go vegan 2 years ago so real cheese is now denied to me. You can get pretty passable vegan Feta, Mozzarella and Parmesan but Stilton has eluded them so far.

Not sure where you are in NJ, but if you can get over to the Hudson Valley, Adam's has a good selection of British and European cheese. https://adamsfarms.com

I’ll second Trader Joe’s. Enjoying a nice French Comte and New Zealand mature cheddar as we speak. Delicious.

Although being close to Wisconsin, you can get proper decent cheddar in Chicago. 10 year aged stuff, extra sharp. Ooff.
