Hi SimesJH

I also have looked here, however for me, the pricing was attactive, but units would only support 4 cars per unit and power.

its also on a "farm" like area and could be a nightnare in winter or wet seasons.

this place could be perfect if you have a couple of vehicles, however to potentially start a new business to work from, i think customers would want a little more and a suitable safe environment.

I'd definitely be interested in this. I'd spent quite a lot of time hunting around for premises suitable for a caravan storage site. Most storage units seem to be at least £10 per sq foot per annum.
Having said that I did see this. http://www.rightmove.co.uk/commercial-property-to-...
Less than £5 per sq foot per annum. Worth investigation?

Doug

thanks for the link Doug,

inside looks workable, however, would the doors/gates look secure enough?

if we have lets say 30-40 vehicles, thats 30-40 seperate people needing access and traffic to the unit. 30-40 elements for potential security risks.

I'm thinking about an electric shutter access and door entry. via a swipe card for members. access can be managed easily and also assist with access card losses or damage remotely, to save employing a permenant member of staff to be there during office hours.

as part of the membership/subscription, internet access to your vehicle space could be provided with your own dedicated IP CCTV cam, so that you can keep an eye on your pride and joy when ever you want. an app on your phone could also give you views, and also check to see if the area was busy, ready to scedule a collection.

devil is in the detail, and still trying to work out whats best if vehicles need to be moved or shuffled about ( not ideal ) so the lay out would have to suite us all in easy access and re entry to store our toys.

Gents,

This thread seems to have gone cold so I assume nothing panned out? Well I can warm it back up for those who are still interested. As per my original posting, I have been looking for some time for shared workshop space in the West Berkshire area to no avail, so I have decided to lease my own workshop and provide some shared facilities. I already have a lift, MIG, TIG, plasma cutter, tube bender etc. as I do body and mechanical fabrication work on my own projects, but my double garage has just gotten too small for my plans (which include a spray booth so my neighbours wouldn't be too happy about that).

I have it narrowed down to two units in Newbury, both around 2500 square feet so plenty of space with a layout that would provide easy access to both storage and workshop facilities. I am meeting the agent today to finalise so this would likely be available in the next couple of weeks. Costs would start at £100/month for storage accessible 24x7, but PM me if you are also looking for workshop access for repairs or project car etc. and we can discuss further.

Hi Beaker,

How did you get on with this? I've just bought a car which I don't really need till end of March as my current daily on lease will be around till then.

As it's a soft top, somewhere to tuck it away for a few months over Winter would be great.

Jon

Hi all,

Thought it worth updating this thread as we now have shared workshop in West Berkshire. It is 4,500 square feet and has everything needed for car restoration or performance builds including 2 post ramp, TIG/MIG welders, plasma cutter, chassis bench and jigs, chassis tube bender etc. There are three of us at the moment, but plenty more room for anybody interested in sharing some workshop space or car storage. PM me for details.
