Damn, so driver's speeding along the M3 won't be caught?
I was just responding as to whether the new HADECS3 cameras are live yet, which they are not and some cameras are still to be installed by the looks of it.As far as we know the SPECS is still operational and my observation is that there are more drivers doing 60+ when it's quiet.

I am sorry, you must be mistaken, it's all finished, has been for a couple of weeks now, "on time and on budget" FurtiveFreddy said:

I saw one of the southbound cameras flash this morning on my way north. No idea whether that means they are actually fining people or its just a malfunction. As far as we know the SPECS is still operational and my observation is that there are more drivers doing 60+ when it's quiet.

I drove that section this morning and had no radar alerts. Might have switched them on briefly for testing. Who knows...TheRainMaker said:
Not sure what happend, but was mentioned on the radio it was taking a while for the Emergancy services to turn up, stuck in traffic apparently....
I'm not saying "I told you so" but......I reckon it's only a matter of time before someone dies as a direct result of this "smart" motorway insanity where they might not have if there'd still been a hard shoulder. The M3 is a primary route for ambulances on urgent patient transfers from several hospitals into specialist departments at Frimley Park. I fear this silliness won't end well.

Does anyone else get the bulletins from Kathryn Boyce on behalf of Balfour Beattie? They used to be informative and are still accurate, the bad news is that today's one states that even though the main upgrade is finished, night time closures for Woodlands Bridge and other unspecified works will continue until next year now, moreover, in spite of earlier estimates, the night closures are at saturation level, 2 to 4a every night both directions for the next three weeks apart from junctions 2-3 southbound open sat and sun.
I get these bulletins 2 or three times a week now but if ever a section is listed as not being closed a week ahead or more, then by the next bulletin it will be changed to closed.
There is now little sign that saturation night time closures will end before next year.
I am beginning to wonder if we are working toward an eternally part time road system, open for getting to work, but if you want to go out at night, forget it!

No, but it doesn't look like I'm missing much! I get these bulletins 2 or three times a week now but if ever a section is listed as not being closed a week ahead or more, then by the next bulletin it will be changed to closed.

Finished means finished - routinely closed surely means it isn't finished?
M3 overrun approximately 50%. Thats a definute fail for any project manager.
So, the likelihood of the M4 project keeping to it's 5 year planned duration? I think we all know the answer.
None of my M4 using colleagues we're aware of the half decade or more of disruption coming their way. Then again, some will have retired before it finishes.

I drove from Heathrow back to Bracknell yesterday evening at around 18:30. The M25 to M3 link still has cones all over it, is this part of the same roadworks? Also J3 has a long tailback in the new left hand lane? Is this normal for that time of day or is this a newly created situation?

It's a nightmare at the moment, I'd love to say what I think, but if my bosses see it, or someone stitches me up, I'll be on the doll. The accident was a very serious one, lucky to be alive! I bet you no one has seen a Highways England vehicle along the M3 since it opened!!
It's not going to be fixed anytime soon. It took me 1hr30 minutes to get to an accident at junction 3 the other morning, I was shattered!
