M3 Nightmare Continues!
Discussion
Bonkers isn't it?
It was down to one lane as you pass fleet services towards the m25 then back to all lanes open for a bit and then closed at j4 I think (it was late and I was tired, might have been J3)
At least on the highways agency website its easy to understand when the closures are..... Or perhaps not!

Closed again last night.
Ridiculous. My journey home took longer at 2am than it did at 6pm the previous day!
Somebody has engineered themselves a job for life out of this stretch of road.
Yup, closed between 4 and 3 northbound from about 9pm onwards. Signs on the M27 were clearly stating this. I have no idea why....Ridiculous. My journey home took longer at 2am than it did at 6pm the previous day!

Just came through on my way home after a late shift.
Closed n/b from around 4 to 3 and reduced to two lanes s/b 3 to 4.
I'm seriously beginning to think this road will never, ever be fully functional and the night time closures and lane restrictions will simply become a routine aspect of smart motorway maintenance.
What I'm really looking forward to is the day/night when the M3 is closed and the A30 is also closed at the Egham roundabout now that's being fked about with in the name of "improvement".

I reckon you might be on to something here. M1 northbound was also closed around J10 on Thursday night. Cracking job creation scheme!

Had the same issue as you guys. Closed the slip road northbound at 4a as I got there at 10.30pm. WTF are they doing apart from milking their way through the highways budget??!!
It's not Carillion doing the work is it? They're apparently about £1.5 billion short from balancing their budget!
Does anyone else keep encountering broken down vehicles in the outside two lanes?
Absolutely fking ridiculous. Clapping along nicely and all of a sudden there's a stationary Mercedes in lane 3. How difficult is it to move over when you realise you've lost power or run out of fuel?
Happened twice now. Not enough emergency pull over areas either, 1.5 mile intervals apart, what a joke.

fking aholes! Wednesday night the sliproad north at 4a was closed again. Absolute piss takers! I blasted the car horn in annoyance (two guys sitting in their van on the sliproad did the same in reply!) but there's sod all you can do. Apart from buy a big old 4x4 and just plough through the cones giving them the bird
Still no idea what the yellow letterbox cameras do. I saw one flash the other day but mostly they don't seem to do anything.

Honestly, if I lived closer I am the type that is sad enough to go there overnight and observe to see what they actually do. I bet they'll do half an hour of litter picking on the central reservation or something.
I am told that a big problem was that they would book a slot say 20th January for an overnight closure. Then, come 20th January, if the work could not be done (lack of staff, plant broke down etc), rather than open the motorway, they just leave the closure in place.

I took the Volkswagen on a run to site in Lightwater this morning... Try as I might, I couldn't make the yellow cameras flash. Not even on the downhill bit approaching Jct4 heading Westbound.
But then the Beetle does top out just below 80mph
Maybe best not to try it in the Interceptor! But then the Beetle does top out just below 80mph
