Sorry for being 'one of those people' who asks on a forum about parking, but I've done my research and can't see a way around this one. I'm hoping someone local might know some local tips / tricks?

I've been offered a secondment with work that I'd really like to take. However, it will involve being based in central Oxford. My initial expectation was that I'd be able to use public transport (train from Haddenham or park and ride) however I will need to be on site from 5:30am - about an hour earlier than any public transport could get me there for. Parking seems almost impossible in Oxford - despite there being 24 hour car parks the cost is just too prohibitive (it'll be coming out of my own pocket).

Where I currently work I park for £4.20 a day. Oxford will be circa £18 a day (looking at 6 out of 7 days)!

Any local tricks, or is this a non starter?

Justpark has people putting spaces up for monthly rental as well as hours/days - there's a few on there within a short walk of the city centre for £150/month or so. Parklet is a similar site.

Worth trawling local facebook groups, gumtree, craigslist, etc too.

They get a lot cheaper once you're a bit further out of the city - I'd be inclined to use one of those, get a folding bike and ride the last bit.

Park and Ride? £4.00 parking all day. The bus doesn't start until 6.00 am so either a folding bike (I know someone that does this as the bus is quite expensive) or walk. The walk is about 30 minutes from Seacourt (Botley Road) or Redbridge (Abingdon Road).

I used to park on Abingdon Road before the permit areas start and then jump on my bike (5 mins) or walk (15 mins) into the centre rather than pay P&R and bus fare.

Might sound a bit bonkers but how about parking at Lewknor and using the LHR-Oxford coaches that run all night?
