Just a reminder that Reigate Hill Southbound will be closed from the M25 toward reigate for 14 weeks from tonight...

https://www.surreycc.gov.uk/roads-and-transport/ro...

God only help us if there's a M25 closure..

Really looking forward to this as I work in Kingston and live in Redhill. I hate Surrey CC... lol.

I got reminded of this tonight when I was coming home from my sister's in Sutton heading up the A217 towards the M25.

Some years ago I used to live in Sutton and work in Redhill - I'm just glad I don't now!

I usually used to use Gatton Bottom but it doesn't look like you can even get that far. But I did find a couple of alternative routes using unclassified roads near Chipstead and Mogador to get from the A217 to the A23. Although if you know them it's probably best not to share them on here!

Good luck getting home. thumbup

Yep they have had months to do this work, so they now wait for the schools to return
(2 schools at the bottom of Reigate hill and the College) rolleyes

And of course the weather will likely turn on them too in the next couple of months.
Well done Surrey County Council. Yet another balls up.

Funny that most of these roadworks starting up didn't just coincide with schools going back but also with the furlough scheme payments reducing scratchchin

Round my way of Surrey, they've deemed it acceptable to put long term roadworks on the A331 towards Blackwater (not sure why the lane closure is there are no work appears to be happening) and a set of gas works (that were halted when Covid lockdown kicked off) have now returned on the A30 too so queues form back in every direction when it starts getting busy. Even better is the set of 3 way managed lights that have been installed on a junction for "improvement works", which are right in front of the start of the gas pipe works which increases the queues.

In addition to this, there are also various other mini roadworks with lights cropping up all over the place randomly for gas / elec / random hole repairs all around the local area.

Plus we also have the Camberley Town Centre regeneration works. Whilst lockdown was in full force this would have been a great time to get on with the work as nobody was in the town centre - especially considering there's usually only been 4 or 5 contractors on site for "social distancing" when they were running - but nope. They started back up in the last 2 months, but due to the newly spaced out barriers & stupid repeated cross-over back on itself walkway system they have in place, to allow doorway access to stores, it's madness as there's barely enough room for 2 people on the walkway, and definitely none if you're being told to give people space for social distancing laugh

I live in your neck of the woods and saw that lane closure on the A331 on Wednesday, but it was gone today.

Just don't try heading into Berkshire as our incompetents have got the A3095 towards Bracknell closed for 12 weeks while they replace a roundabout with traffic lights near the Golden Retriever! So based on past experience of works on that road it will probably take at least 6 months. banghead

Well that didn't take long.

Pebble Hill, the diversion route for those that don't know is a winding narrow road that goes down a fairly steep hill.

Always an ideal choice for a diversion involving HGV and buses....

Tonight, the inevitable happened and there was an accident closing the whole road. Everyone that was using it was clueless as to where to go. In the end, I doubled back and ended up going through Headley and Dorking.

This whole thing is a cluster....

There was a queue on 217 this afternoon from Tattenham Way northbound towards Banstead crossroads , didn't go and see what caused it.

More 217 closures ,overnight luckily.

Had a leaflet through the letter box today , A217 will be closed 8pm to 6am from 12th February for 3 weeks .

They are resurfacing the southbound carriageway from just north of Garratt's lane , that's where the ex Ford dealer site is

down to Tattenham way B2221 .

The northbound is also closed opposite Garratt's lane / The Drive .

Really loving the fact they opened the road up for a whole month before closing Reigate Hill AGAIN for three weeks for gas main works.

I mean, it's shut for three months. Why not do the frigging work then?

Spanners. The lot of them. Needless to say I didn't get a response from Brispin Clunt, SGN or SCC...

Not that I expected any, it just made me feel better.. lol.

Because that would have been far too sensible! laugh

Glad it made you feel better though. thumbup

I really don't miss living in Sutton, although my current local authority is probably worse - if that is possible!
