Meantime, what exactly are you after ? you could look on ebay, plenty of breakers sell parts on there. Seems more than ever breakers dismantle the cars and then put the bits on a shelf rather than let you wander about and strip out whatever you want

As Crafty says, its easier to look on FB or Ebay for similar cars breaking or for the part you need. Its normally easier for them to break the car into various than let people wander about potentially damaging cars to get certain parts off them.

What car is it and what do you need?

Unintended consequence of Health and Safety / environmental regulations has transformed the old style scrap yards. Rare now to find a greasy oily muddy mess where you are greeted by two German shepherds, then vaguely directed “up there” by a monosyllabic bloke (or geezer!) grunted from a grim shed or caravan adorned with soft porn calendars. I doubt of the cost of scrappers now stripping the big bits offsets the loss of theft from punters pinching a few extra switches, bulbs, badges, etc which were probably never used, anyway. Many a happy Sunday morning “ Oh, look, a chrome rocker cover on this A Series.....” A shame that on return home your car had a puncture and those shoes you really should not have worn are scuffed and smell of diesel. To the question, I got an excellent , as described alloy wheel for daughter’s Peugeot 308 SW on line from a large Manchester outfit for £30.

I would have thought you could get what you need online from a VW breaker.

I got a jack for my BMW that way for £19.99 delivered!
