Del looks after a few G20 race cars and as an ex-G20 racer he knows the cars inside out. He also has a good range of parts. I would definitely recommend him.

I am now in contact with Del at Reflex Racing. He is another source for G20 parts and was happy to have me share his contact information here.

Since the Ginetta G20 rear vertical links are not a common item to find used I need to find some sort of workable replacement.

I have the diff, prop shafts and wishbones, but I don't have the vertical links or associated Sierra parts.

Mark suggested using original Sierra parts or possibly something from another common kit car as a replacement.

What about G40 parts?

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions they could share here?

Thanks.

I broke one of mine in a road incident. It was a clean break and I had a specialist stitch it back together and test it. I looked for months to find 2 spares, and had to pay a lot for them. I did make a jig and build some out of steel. All of the parts are available from the kit car suppliers like Plaz Cuts in the UK for the Haynes Roadster. Just had to modify angles and length for the Ginetta. The factory supplied the upright in steel or alloy. Parts are probably available to set the upright up to use Miata components, too.

Thanks Mike. Did you make your own jig or did you have a shop do it for you? Not having anything to go by or compare to is a bit of an issue right now being in Germany.

Mark has been very helpful sending me photos of various parts, so I think the main critical part I need is the vertical link. He is in the process of having some made using the Ginetta piece as a model, but he doesn't know when those will be complete.

I had a good one to use for the jig. I worked with Jon G to buy the spares. He exhausted his resources to find some. Once he got them, he tried some Engineers to quote on reproductions, but cost was prohibitive (alloy units). I tried some US machinists as well. Can't find anyone interested in quoting on a limited run. Still on my project list.

Del at Reflex is looking for me as well. Hopefully he will come up with something. Otherwise I'm at a standstill and will have to re-think things.

Have you tried these guys?

I might spring for a set of these. Huge weight saving.

Hi there
newby in the house,

I work for delboy(reflex) as has been stated we still have large amounts of bit's for g20's and still run 4 for customers cars. as also stated mark & jonny(know them very well) have some bit's, I know jonny got brought up some of the parts before ginetta binned them(but not to after I collected all the interesting parts like new chassis, wisebones etc)

As for knowledge of them I've worked with them for 10 years, del's about 16 so there's not much we don't know about them.

To the chap waiting to find out about rear up rights sorry for the delay haven't been able to check yet as the lorry being painted and is masked up at the moment.

Dave

ps on the talk of steering racks g40 rack will fit with new brackets(but are £600ish) but don't try a g50 rack it won't fit completely different(bmw based power rack)

Hey Dave,

Thanks for checking on the parts. Del told me what you found. I've been pestering Del, Mark and Jonny about the uprights. They're surely tired of me making a nuisance of myself about it.

If I could just get a diagram of the measurements I could try to have some steel ones welded up. This is just a hobby for me, so I'm not looking for the best weight savings or competitive edge for racing. I'm just trying to get everything I need for the suspension before I move back to the states in a couple months.

I told Del I would love to make a trip to the U.K. to see, touch and maybe even drive a G20. I had never even heard of Ginetta before buying this pile of parts!

This thread will give you an idea of what I'm up against. LOL

Hey Mike,

It looks like the two links are the same ad for the G20 race car. Is the second link for a pair of uprights?

I just wanted to send a big thank you to 4 guys that have been very helpful in figuring things out on my project and helping to find a lot of the parts I need.

Mark @ DSE
Del @ Reflex
Mike T.
Jonny Greenwood

You guys have gone out of your way to help a fellow enthusiast that knows little to nothing about Ginettas. Your patience and generosity are greatly appreciated!

Thank you!!

The Three UK Amigos have really come through for me!

I sent them a spreadsheet that listed the parts I am missing and it looks like they are going to be able to find most of them! Del was even able to find a set of vertical links!

I want to plan a trip to the UK to fetch everything. I'm hoping I can fit it in before I move back to the states. I did some backward planning this weekend and it may be a little tight to get the parts before I pack my household goods for the move.

I brought everything back to the house from the storage unit this last weekend as well. My neighbor asked me if I was building a Mach 5 from Speed Racer... We may have just come up with a color scheme for it... LOL

I'm headed to Fort Knox, KY near Louisville.

I may make a road trip to Southern California at some point to pick up another interesting project...

In 2012 my son and I flew from Louisville to Sacramento to buy a '74 Plymouth Duster and drive it back on a father-son road trip.
Great memories!

The shipping company came and did a pre-inspection the other day...

Great news! They are going to ship the frame and body on the trailer in a custom built crate. All we have to do is roll it in here and a couple months later roll it out there. The maximum length for shipping trailers, etc is 14 feet. The trailer is 13 feet 9 inches. LOL

I'm heading to the UK in a couple weeks to pick up a few pieces and parts from Mark. Nothing huge, so we are planning to bring everything back with us in our checked baggage. I'll report back on how that goes... :-)

Most of the stuff is easy. I think that I sent you my interchange list. The difficult thing is the tie rod end. Jon says you are better off with a G40 or g50 rack, but it is expensive.
Hello!
Do You still got the interchangelist for the G20, I would be very thankfull if You can send it over to me.
