I have a left hand drive G20 that I completed for road use back in 2007. It has a factory VIN # with a 2002 date. I am in the middle of doing some upgrades and would like to find a quick release steering wheel and hub assemble to fit the stock steering column. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Did you get anywhere on this? It is a standard Ford to Momo set up. The adapters that I see on ebay seem to extend the wheel back too much. May be best to cut the shaft and use one of the weld on kits available. I have been wanting to do it to mine as well.

Thank you for responding. Almost gave up getting a response.

The steering shaft that my Raid/Dino factory steering wheel mounts to is a 17 mm hex shaft. would the hubs you have looked at mount to my shaft? Does it make a difference if it is English ford versus American Ford? Info for what hubs you are looking at would be helpful.

I was led to believe that Ginetta sourced parts for the G20 from a Ford Sierra. Is that your understanding?

Hello,

Yes, Ford Sierra steering column. Demon Tweaks has an adapter, but I think that would move the wheel back to much. I think, cut the shaft and get a weld-on kit. Be nice to hear from some of the racers as to what they might have done???

I have the same column on my kit car. Demon tweeks sell a bolt on hub which isn't quick release which leaves the wheel in the same position as the original. Any quick release will bolt to this hub moving it towards you a few inches.

I ended up cutting the end of the column off and welding on a quick release hub. It's a much nicer solution and you can put the wheel exactly where you want it.

A little tip if you go this way. The column is hollow, cut it back far enough to get the head of a 10mm bolt in there, weld that into the column with the thread facing out towards you. Drill and tap the centre of the new hub and screw it onto the 10mm bolt. Now weld the hub onto the bolt and weld over the bolt onto the column. It is a lot stronger than just welding it to the shaft.

The material of the column isn't very thick so I did this to give me something solid to weld to.

Hi,

I have a LHD too, and a quick release fit on it. There different options and can send you somme picture if it helps. It's not expensive and "plug and play" !

Hye Grantutra, I've just finish to full strip the car this WE, so now that every things is on the floor, i'll take few picture this week of the two options that i've found for the snap off hub.
