You couldn't take the G12 out on some deserted byway?

We want to know how it drives and what it looks like inside and out!

Even if it was possible to find a deserted road (what, in the UK - some chance!)and even if Dare had a G12 available to drive it just wouldn't be worth risking driving an unregistered car on the road for insurance and other reasons.

Only other possiblity would be to see if Dare have any plans to runs a G12 at a race meeting or track day and see if we could arrange something then.

Deserted byway? In the UK? Does such a place exist.

Is the G12 totally beyond hope for passing an SVA test? Or does it just need a punter with enough cash to overcome the red-tape?

Think the situation with the G12 is much like with some Le Mans type cars - has all the lights etc so with suitable exhaust and tyres one possibly could be made road legal. Ivor Walklett couldn't think of anyone who's done it though.

Some photos of a G12 a Dare-UK..

...just to keep the peace.
Well, for what it's worth, in my opinion, the G4 is a better looking car, lighter and more available then the G12 ever was. So I'm tempted to let it rest in the History books now.

That G12 is beautiful!

I really like the tail parts! Reminds me of a certain ferrari. 250 gto? If the G4 has made it to the US then there should be no problem with the G12 either. (compare to SVA) I've heard mid engine cars tend to be heavier than simular front engine cars. In that regard it violates the fundimentals of sports cars in my book but perhaps it handles better on a track than the g4. And the looks of it! Then again I've also heard it costs more to have built. Oh well. Thanks for the photos. I think the G12 could be a winner.

David FF, any interior piccies of the G12?

Petrolted and Graham Bell, don't you see that there is interest in the G12?

Come on PT, arrange a test!

I have always been interested in getting a G12 since I read Bob Walklett's book about Ginetta. Even enquired about the price of a basic kit to build one - I think the body/chassis was about £4000 +VAT if I remember correctly. I wasn't aware that none had been used as road cars though - I wouldn't think it too difficult to convert.

G12 and (interior pix) ..Trouble is, no new ones are being built, old ones are few and far between, and in good condition.

Back to the G4 which this topic thread is based on...

.. I can't believe nobody is racing G4's or at least attending track days, I've seen video footage of Mark Walklett giving a race spec'd G4 so much stick the prop shaft snapped (Their first meeting). A problem, which they obviously addressed by the time they next took the car out, which was indeed, impressive to watch. Right up there with the Elise, Morgan, Caterham etc.. I'm sure it would give the Leading Edge a run for their money.

Checked the G12 situation with Dare and was told they don't have a car to test anyway because they only produce fully built G12s to order.

They also now only produce the G4 in fully built form as well because nobody seemed interested in the self-build option.

Hey, what's the status of the Yellow G4? Is it sold?

Where is it? UK? USA? In between?

In honor of you Graham Bell, I will start a G12 topic.

Petrolted, you really should have a Ginetta classification under other marques--more posts for Ginetta than Marcos and Aston Martin!

The Yellow G4 which I have put photographs of on this thread is a SOLD car which was RHD and for a customer in the USA. It just happened to be the first completed 'lid off' G4 from DareUK. We can get more if you want one

David FF, has Dare received many orders for the new G4? Have there been many media inquiries about their cars? Put me down as yet ANOTHER one who would like to see the Lotus Elise vs the Dare G4 tested on the road and track (throw in a Boxster for good measure).
Too bad Dare wasn't at the Motorshow--wouldve liked to see the piccies!

Hey, haven't heard much from Dare. How come they weren't at the Motorshow?
Any more magazine articles besides EVO?

How does one get in touch with Dandarez? I checked his profile and don't see an e-mail address... :frown:

What is the story with the yellow G4? Did it make it to the USA? Love to hear from the lucky owner of that car!

I still think Graham Bell owes us a track day test of the G12.
Hope the orders for the new G4 are proceeding at a nice clip.
How come EVO doesn't have the Dare G4 listed in the KNOWLEDGE?

Like to oblige ikey, but as Dare only make G12s to order and don't have any cars available to test it just ain't possible.

Regarding why evo don't list the G4 in the 'Knowledge' - as I've said before, evo has never lived up to its promise of 'every performance car reviewed and rated' and has always had both ommissions and errors.

As with all mainstream car magazines, evo tends to concentrate on the big name badges. Pistonheads isn't so snobby.
