RE: Ginetta G4
Discussion
Even if it was possible to find a deserted road (what, in the UK - some chance!)and even if Dare had a G12 available to drive it just wouldn't be worth risking driving an unregistered car on the road for insurance and other reasons.
Only other possiblity would be to see if Dare have any plans to runs a G12 at a race meeting or track day and see if we could arrange something then.

That G12 is beautiful!
I really like the tail parts! Reminds me of a certain ferrari. 250 gto? If the G4 has made it to the US then there should be no problem with the G12 either. (compare to SVA) I've heard mid engine cars tend to be heavier than simular front engine cars. In that regard it violates the fundimentals of sports cars in my book but perhaps it handles better on a track than the g4. And the looks of it! Then again I've also heard it costs more to have built. Oh well. Thanks for the photos. I think the G12 could be a winner.

I have always been interested in getting a G12 since I read Bob Walklett's book about Ginetta. Even enquired about the price of a basic kit to build one - I think the body/chassis was about £4000 +VAT if I remember correctly. I wasn't aware that none had been used as road cars though - I wouldn't think it too difficult to convert.
G12 and (interior pix) ..Trouble is, no new ones are being built, old ones are few and far between, and in good condition.
Back to the G4 which this topic thread is based on...
.. I can't believe nobody is racing G4's or at least attending track days, I've seen video footage of Mark Walklett giving a race spec'd G4 so much stick the prop shaft snapped (Their first meeting). A problem, which they obviously addressed by the time they next took the car out, which was indeed, impressive to watch. Right up there with the Elise, Morgan, Caterham etc.. I'm sure it would give the Leading Edge a run for their money.

David FF, has Dare received many orders for the new G4? Have there been many media inquiries about their cars? Put me down as yet ANOTHER one who would like to see the Lotus Elise vs the Dare G4 tested on the road and track (throw in a Boxster for good measure).
Too bad Dare wasn't at the Motorshow--wouldve liked to see the piccies!

ikey said: I still think Graham Bell owes us a track day test of the G12.
Like to oblige ikey, but as Dare only make G12s to order and don't have any cars available to test it just ain't possible.
Regarding why evo don't list the G4 in the 'Knowledge' - as I've said before, evo has never lived up to its promise of 'every performance car reviewed and rated' and has always had both ommissions and errors.
As with all mainstream car magazines, evo tends to concentrate on the big name badges. Pistonheads isn't so snobby.
