Hi,

Managed to reverse my car into a post today and dented in the boot lid, I've managed to source a new one from a breakers yard which I'll hopefully be collecting tomorrow. Just have a few questions...

How hard will it be to remove my old one and install the new one?
Since it's from the same car (Moondust silver Fiesta ST, both 55 plates), am I likely to have much issue with colour matching?
My current rear window has tinted glass and the new one doesn't, would it be cheaper to get the window tinted or pay someone to simply cut out my old glass and fit it onto the new boot?
And finally..
Am I likely to experience any issues with either the remote locking or shut lines?

Thanks smile

The connector may be in the car rather than in the bootlid

You will have to disconnect and unclip the wiring within the original boot lid then thread it into the new one.

Yep hes right ^^^ theres no wiring plug or owt you have to unplug everything inside ur tailgate which will be your wiper motor, latch and number plate lights, then drag all the wiring out the hole at the top of the tailgate, thats the easy bit its getting it fed back into the new tailgate thats the fun part on most cars! Good luck and if u ever have any other questions let me know, been a ford bodyshop technician for 11 years now.

Thanks for the help!

The boot lid I bought came with all the old wiring/motors etc still in it so I left those in. What I ended up doing was tracing the old cable down through the roof lining and found it disconnected behind the rear-quarter window. Pulled this out and routed the new cabling down now it's working fine biggrin

Really easy way of doing it now I know how and am glad I did it instead of dismantling both lids. Only problem I have is I don't know how to change the lock barrels so atm I can only open it using the remote locking frown

Disconnect the cable going to the lock barrel, prize the white cable retaining piece off the back of the barrel, then take the two or three torx screws out, then you twist the black plastic part on the inside of the tailgate one way or the other and it should just drop out and you can then remove the barrel from the outside.

Hi there
I've done all the re-threading of cabling, changed over the lock etc but my problem is I can't get the lock mechanism to line-up with the fitting on the sill ! It seems to be about an inch or so too far back. Any tips on how to get the boot lid lined up correctly so that it will close, please ?
Many thanks.

Hi, I recently bought a fiesta mk6 Petrol, Ghia with a smashed in bootlid.
Do all mk6 bootlids fit?
I sourced a tailgate from a breakers, it was from a zetec tdci. Fitted it and did all the wiring but it won’t latch on and close properly. Is there a way to adjust the boot or could it be a wrong fit? It’s seems only mm out but it just won’t lock

Hi, yes all boot lids are the same right through the range. Sounds to me like you need to mess with the alignment of the latch, remove the plastic trim on the bottom of the boot opening (Above the rear bumper), and you can undo the latch to adjust it slightly (This is from memory, sold my mk6 2yrs ago but I had it in bits many times).
