Is the new one standard? Looks good!
The new one ( blue) is totally standard. The grey one was lowered on Eibach springs from the Ford accessory catalogue, new wheels & a few other little bits and bobs.

Why?
Sorry I was being humerous but serious at the same time.
It is generally the case that anybody who is passionate about their car will never allow a dealer to wash it. The reason being that washing is commonly where paint damage is inflicted. The person appointed to wash your car at a dealer does not care about your car, it is simply a job to them. They will most likely use a dirty sponge and chamois(if they bother to dry) that will have been dropped on the ground at some point then carried on being used. I stopped using a sponge and chamois to wash and dry my car about 5 years ago....and even then was behind the times.
We would like to think that our dealer has the appropriate equipment used with loving care.....but this is not the real world unfortunately.
I am surprised you did not immediately understand what I was talking about

Hi Guys,
I'm new to the forum. Would the white oxidization seen in the accompanying photo of a 2010 ST225 be cause for concern? Thanks.

Hi all, my ST suffered auxiliary belt failure last year which unfortunately ttted the cambelt causing it to jump teeth.

It's currently languishing in my car park while I tool around in a £400 grandad spec Mazda 2 but I'm close to having the funds to fix the bugger.

I live in Norfolk but don't mind travelling to get it fixed if someone could recommend an ST specialist??

Cheers

Exactly same thing happened to my mates 55 plate ST, he took it to a place I've used before, Automodz in Notts. Think it cost him a grand to get fixed up, block mod, cambelt, waterpump etc. Bit of a trek for you but a very highly regarded specialist. I had block mod, cambelt, waterpump done there over 2 years back and had no problems at all.

Creaking seats are more often than not a broken weld / welds on the seat frame. Not a hard fix - seat out, cover off, snot together again, job done.

I bought a one owner 2006 Orange ST-3 from Essex last year which by the time I drove it home had only done 7807 miles in 13 years. It was like buying a brand new car for less than half the price.

It had also been MOT'd each years so genuine mileage and thought it wouldn't depreciate much if I kept the miles down. I wanted to keep it as standard as possible but had the mid box deres delete done and the problem is it sounds fantastic so I can't stop driving it. So now just over 10,000 miles.

I get around 30mpg, find the wind and road noise a little louder than my other cars but this is offset by the great engine noise. Seats are super comfortable, but you do sit a little high so doesn't feel too sporty but good for visibility. its really practical with a good size boot and the engine torque and handling make it fun to drive. My local mechanic MOT'd it the other day, said how much he likes the MK2 ST and has also just bought one.

I think they are a great all round practical hot hatch.

I find that the driving position is a little too high for my liking too, not by a lot
