Oh wonderful!
I am so pleased that you have obtained WFD and carrying out it's re- birth ..
I feel cars like this bare your soul and it looks as if it is smiling with the thought of being alive again soon.

Cheers David glad you approve, I'm still working on the running gear getting everything painted and have got a stainless steel exhaust system to fit, so might be a while before the body is back on , but will get there in the end.

Just had a flash memory that I have ' nt been on here for a while. .
So hope that all's well and you are enjoying the project..
I may have said as in that some time after i put WFD in a lock up I acquired a Lotus Elan +2 ..
Not a pristine condition one but a runner.
This was something like 1983..
Things turned sour when the front chassis started cracking..
Hence a decision either to restore or sell . So that meant two sportscars that didn't work ..
I ended up breaking the Elan and managed to get my money back at least..
Not sure if WFD will match the financial status of an Elan + 2 in same restored condition but either way who would have thought either would fetch such commanding prices today.

Looks like good progress to me.
Did'nt like that mention of you having to sell it!
I feel it is safe in your hands now and I'd hate to think it would spends years more static in a lock up and sitting awaiting to be finished and ending up like it was with me..
Having said that please tell me if you feel inclined to part..
I have recently acquired two Imps for serious work on so I hope I do not have to make myself anxious in thinking WFD will go missing again

Keith,
What's the idea behind the chassis having two colours?

I have a hunch that the engine leaks oil and perhaps needs work. Hence the forward part of the chassis can then be painted more easily with engine removal.

There was an oil leak from the front crank seal but I renewed that ,the engine is running well with no leaks the reason its still red is I haven't got that far forward yet I started at rear and I'm working forward the chassis was all red ledded when I got the car having been totally renovated ,maybe i should have got it powder coated but decided to paint with rust protected paint, so will all be black in time , anyway they weren't powder coated from new

Have you thought about the suspension spring rates due to the increased weight at the front. .
I remember the ride was very firm with the xflow and the rear used to hop up and down..

Hi David no the old guy that did all the work on the car put new adjustable shockers on aprarently he had rebuilt two before this one so he new what he was doing , so I will rely on what he as done till I drive the car and change the rateing if required . I was told the only reason he never finished wfd is his wife died , I. have spoken to him he told me the engine unit came out of his mates kit car and I believe as hot camms and such ,so with the five speed box and limeted slip differential it should go wel
