It's not a complete car by a long, long way. Body, chassis and some suspension parts.
Adding about £100K on top of the purchase price should just about do it (To do a proper job that is)
Hmm probs best I start saving then... Who owned this beforehand then? Why has it suddenly surfaced?Adding about £100K on top of the purchase price should just about do it (To do a proper job that is)

Hi I am new to this forum and to Piston Heads.
I can not believe that the 12 has popped up for sale it should be in a museum somewhere, it always had its issues from day one, as it had to have the exhausts run down the tunnel, and the body at the start was supposed to come off, for working on.. that brief created a lot of installation problems with bulkheads etc and made the centre tunnel so wide the drivers view was obscured. Hope it goes to a good home... it was a real head turner....

As you'll know the biggest problem related to the fabricated block. JR knew about this at drg board stage and tried very hard to introduce stress relieving methods to minimise the effects. TVR's effort was quite advanced compared to the early 1900s examples and he presented a learned paper on his work, to IMechE IIRC. I'd be interested to read a copy of his paper if you're able to locate one.

I'd say the way forward to create a 12 engine today would be to produce some cad drawings and get a few blocks cast by using 3D printing techniques to produce the formers, straightforward if not cheap.
Hi DavidYes that's is one of the ways we can do it.
It's not going to be a easy restoration. As you know I like my cars to be as near original as posable. But in this case it may not be posable!
If the worst came to it we may have to go down the route taken buy Mr Abbot with his 2nd Cerbie SP12 and put another type of V12 in. Aston, Jag or some thing along those lines.
But that is a long way off yet!
