Red Glow Pearlescent Paint

^^As the man said - it does fade, noticeably, I think
We had a visit from the Blackpool bodyshop main man (???) last year. He was in the area for a 'do' and took the opportunity to visit the Hants TVRCC. He said that the colour was originally only for that years Motor Show (2003/4) and the factory advised that it would not be good for normal use - - But, the pressure must have been to do a few cars.
I know, because mine is one of them!!

Various formulations of Red Glow over the years... The latest does not fade..at least mine from 2006 hasn't .
Just get Malcolm Ashworth (TVRs best paint sprayer , now at S&D do it).
The bigest problem was with Rosso which did fade to pink.
Malcolm had the exact formulation for my car from the factory records. He did 4 samples with the same formulation but with different "strengths" of lacquer ... it came out in 4 completely different shades ,just dependent of the thickness of lacquer applied.

I needed to respray my old rosso pearl Chim, and went for red glow as a non-fading alternative. I sold the car a couple of years later, and never noticed any fade in that time, so reckon it's pretty stable. However, I can recall that as soon as I saw the car after the spray, I was gutted I hadn't gone for rosso pearl again! Nothing can match the depth, and it would have been years til it needed another respray. Not sure what I was thinking, but clearly got swept along with the hype about fading with rosso.
Anyway, for all that rambling, what I meant to say was if you're looking at a replacement for rosso, just don't!

My Tuscan 2s was red glow pearl and the 2 times the front bonnet was sprayed (stone chips)it was a different colour each time
I've recently had a full respray in Alfa Romeo 8C red and it looks fantastic now.
Could you post up some pics when you get a chance as I'd love to see a mk2S in that colour! I've recently had a full respray in Alfa Romeo 8C red and it looks fantastic now.
My 2004 T350T is Red Glow, just like Jonesey's. It has faded a small amount, but you can only tell if you remove the targa panels and look at the painted part below the panels which has obviously been exposed to less sunlight. I had a front end nose cleanup around 2008 and the paint match was perfect.
Note: Specialised Paintwork near Reading (J12 M4) did the work. To cut the cost they used something like Rover Nightfire red (or a similar colour) as a base top coat and then Red glow on top. Saved a bit of money on the paint and the final result was a perfect match.
