Interesting, it seems from the few responses here that most had a similar view as me, I was surprised the questionnaire didn't have a section asking what we didn't like. I think headlights would have been a big mention. I remember liking the rear and thinking that did look aggressive.

I also walked away thinking I want one but I don't know if that was an emotional response to really wanting TVR to work and be what I remember it to be.. Unfortunately some of the images in the press are actually better looking than the actual car so it may be a disappointment to a lot of people.

I cant make the public reveal but I'm sure there will be plenty of press pics to make a final decision..

You lot puzzle me. Surely you buy a sports car for the performance - who cares what the arty farty types have done to the bodywork. After all one of the prettiest cars ever, the E type, was never styled as such. It was the aero guy wot did it, and hopefully the TVR ( if it ever happens) is the same. All engineer and zero graphic design.

The Tuscan, T350 and the Sagaris all had the "wow" factor as well as the performance.

When you saw these cars being spanked around the top gear track, you knew they were something special. Tremendous performance and fairly outrageous looks all wrapped up to make a special individual package. That's what makes TVRs desirable, ( I accept not to everyone's liking) especially to the person who wants to remain, "individual ".

It looks like the new car will have performance, far more advanced technology in its construction than previous cars but it will need the looks as the cherry on the cake. Without this it may turn out to be a bit of a plain Jane and that certainly won't do for most people.

If this will be introduced in October with a sticker price of less than GBP 55.000, TVR will need to deliver an absoutely stunner...

Nope, its a TVR, its more about pantomime than performance. Plenty of cars for the same money do performance better than a Sagaris, few do it with such extrovertness

Nice... Aston DB10 anyone?
The above comments are worrying - perhaps it's more 350Z than DB10. frown

I don't know. For Most TVR enthusiasts, I agree. For most 'people', I think the performance, price and 'average' looks will make it more of a sales success than something quirky looking.

I have heard from a reliable source that GMD are looking for a bigger place.

Small production runs for customers ?

It's certainly not a DB 10 and it's also not a clumsy 350Z. Look at the Battersea pictures without the cover (the black model) in the beginning of this thread. That's what you're gonna get and it looks great overall. From what i see the basic shape has been fixed for quite a while now with only minor changes happening. It's been there all the time.

Yes, the RX9 looks cool, but a bit too pleasing, as is the DB10, the looks tend to wear off quite fast. Park the RX9 next to any other Mazda and you will have to look twice to make sure which one is which. Also i am not sure how wankel-displacement translates into V8 displacement, but it's only got 1.6 Liter and will not be there until 2020. It will also be diametrically opposed in core-values to the TVR.

Mazda has a habit of showing stunning cars then not producing them.
Personally I can't wait to see the new TVR

I had the same thoughts after the reveal.

I e-mailed the team about the frontal design and the number plate position because I was concerned about the effects on appearance and cooling. They reassured me on both counts.

My feeling is that the design of the headlights will be crucial to make the front look spectacular. If the lights are jewel-like and stunning they will go a long way towards giving it the 'wow' factor and making a link to past headlight designs such as the Tuscan and T350. Overall I was very excited by the seriousness of the design approach and I believe from personal e-mails and chats at the reveal that they 'get' the appeal of TVRs generally. We'll see!

If you just want to go fast, you buy a caterfield. I think anyone in the market for an £80k sports car will want it to look nothing less than spectacular parked on their driveway. If when you drive past people they don't say "Wow, wtf is that?!" you've failed IMO. I don't buy the argument that making it plainer looking will increase its appeal confused

It also brings home just how talented the designers of the Wheeler cars really were. They haven't aged at all (the cars, not the people)

I totally agree. To be honest if they literally put a Sagaris shell on the new platfrom I'd be 100% sold. Its one of the most spectacular, aggressive and dramatic looking cars ever developed and it still looks modern today imo

+1 this... and as others have said too.

I was driving back to South London from Blackpool (S&D) in the Cerbera the other weekend (a good 275mile trip!) and the attention, thumbs up, people hanging out windows to see and hear the pops and bangs....was enough to tell me these cars have "still got it".

I hope the September reveal at Goodwood shows the details that were missing from the Preview Day, as I also agree with comments made above and by others, as per my article in Sprint. My fingers and toes are crossed.
