“The point of doing this is to give a hardcore smackdown to gasoline cars,” said Musk at the launch. “Driving a gasoline sports car is going to feel like a steam engine with a side of quiche.”
(from https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2017/nov/17... ).

A car that feels like a steam engine? Yes please!

Out of interest, and with no agender... what were you expecting the price to be?

That's always been the quote. Including tax.

I thought that £90k had now been set as the latest price for the LE and I was a bit surprised to hear < £90k being stated that's all.

89,995 is my tip. Which is both, 90k and <90k wink

It's stunning, seems that I've made the right decision on placing an order for it :-)

Here's Shmee's take on it:

Is the latest on production still that its being based around the LE models being manufactured at GM's facility?

Does that sound realistic given the facility, the numbers involved and the time frame??

The new tiv is definitely a better looking car.

People have been complaining about the front of the new TVR but the front of this new Aston is appalling !

All subjective I know.

The new Aston is indeed stunning IMHO but it is comfortably £30k+ above the Griffith even without a few extras.

The TVR is what it is; it only ever has to appeal to a small number of people who don't want to do the obvious thing and buy a Porsche or Aston and who like the idea that it will outperform all but the most exotic and expensive versions of those and a lot of other Famous Names.

This was the past, not sure if this will work with the relaunched brand.

I had all TVR modells from 1992 and usually bought every new modell at launch. These have been exciting times and I always remember these good old days with a big smile in my face.

However, Aston nowadays reminds me very much to the old TVR philisophy, edgy design, bold colours and wild interior.
Shame that the prices are somewhat north from the good old times, but at the end of the day it's an Aston :-)

I really like the new griff, no really.

If I hadn't just spent £150 on a new table tennis bat I'd be in like a shot! cool

Why is it that when new TVR said they would use a tweaked third-party engine there were lots of people saying how can they charge so much for a 'kit-car', yet Aston Martin drop a third-party engine in and lob in the infotainment system and controls, then hike the price by 30% and no-one seems to question it? Not saying it the Merc kit isn't a big improvement over the previous incarnation, just wondering why it's more acceptable to many.
