Or perhaps I know what the meaning of shrewd is. I guess everyone’s ethical compass points differently.

No need to debate this guys.

Whether saint or sinner, Mr Wheeler is dead - let's celebrate all that was good about TVR under him, he's not here to defend himself and also should not have to.

Les Edgar, he is alive and he's doing what he thinks best - in time, the market will decide, not him and not us. I'm behind him all the way. Unconditionally.

CHANGE THE fkING bd OF A FRONT!

Oooo that could have nearly rhymed.
Yes, it is too early in the morning for that type of language Mary Whitehouse.

What, she's dead as well?

I think you have just summed up the entire thread - everyone is frustrated because the car is so achingly right.

The engine, the interior, the noise, the side exiting exhausts, the 3/4 rear view, the rear, the side. Its all fabulous and all so what we all wanted

And then theres the front...

To be honest I don't think they will change the nose at least not to a noticeable degree. If they do then they have to make it so that 100% everyone loves it which will be impossible,so the whole process of enthusiasts either loving or hating the new nose will start all over again without end ,and they know this.

I don't particularly like the rear end either, nor the wettest of wet fart exhaust note,I do like the profile though so to me they got that bit right. You see we could all go on forever...

I have to admit, I don't get why they wouldn't change the front. This is the re-launch of TVR, the poster car of so many petrolheads, surely you would want to make it the best that you can. As of now I've yet to hear one person say it is stunning from the front, not deposit holders, journos, TVR fans, nor even anyone from TVR itself. What we get is that it looks better in the metal. Meh.

I develop products for a living, and prototypes, betas, focus groups, limited previews, etc, are all methods employed to improve an as yet unreleased new product. Feedback is taken on board an acted on, the product is refactored, refined, re-imagined if necessary. Remember, this is the Launch Edition, you only get one shot at that and how frustrating will it be for all those who have had the faith and put their money down only to find that the next model is the one that has all the feedback rolled in to it and looks just bloody brilliant.

I can't believe they're not listening to feedback, no-one builds products like that. For now I am still in as I'm hoping a change here and tweak there will sort out the fish face, but I'm wavering - there are just so many brilliant alternatives. My deposit makes no difference to their finances, but the commitment to buy, or rather not to buy, expressed by a growing list on this forum, must surely be troubling investors.

Les has been in product development long enough, I'm pretty sure he will have a rabbit to pull out the bag. Keep the faith.

I still can't work out why they haven't got a monthly you-tube video blog of the development? Given that private peeps like BAM building "Project Blinky", or MightyCarMods manage to put out quality short videos covering what they've done in the last month, it's seems pretty remiss that TVR can't find a small budget to do the same! FFS, they could probably even sell it to Quest/Dave/More4 as "TVR REBORN" or a similar series and get someone else to actually pay for it.........

It depends who he asks though doesn’t it?

We’ve already heard accounts that he doesn’t like non deposit holders saying they don’t like the looks. Doesn’t sound like a good way to get honest and impartial feedback.

If he’s just asking a load of fans, and they’re saying it’s all amazing because they just want a TVR. Asking people’s opinions who would buy the car regardless is completely pointless.

The only way this car’s going to work is if it attracts new buyers. Unfortunately they’re already at a disadvantage as loads of TVR fans don’t like it. Is there going to be enough people wanting to buy a £90,000 car from what is essentially a start up. Gordon Murray design will only sway a few buyers.

They don’t seem to have the know how and resources available to keep in contact with depositors, I doubt they put much effort into focus groups and betas and previews. Really amateur videos of Les driving around saying how good it is and how Gordon Murray designed it and everyone else can shut it, simply isn’t going to work.

Id love to buy another new TVR but not one that looks like a Toyota with a weird face.

So isn’t it time to lobby the company.
If it’s true that few deposit holders really like the front end then it’s probably true that most other folk won’t so a rather important detail.

It wouldn’t take much to just round those corners a bit and your not far from the Cerbera nose and that’s as iconic as it comes, not very forward thinking maybe but sure shows it’s identity.

It was very telling when a young student tried playing with and coming up with ideas he was shot down in flames. Are some so desperate to get this car they’ll ignore their own eyes.

Maybe it’s time to do a straw pole if anyone’s brave enough
Time for action or this is what your going to get.

It’s all about Ford I think! But what do I know wink

ETA not many share the details like they do for almost everything else in life on social media,
Few Tvr fans seems to including me.
If it looked like what we all expect a Tvr to look like ( exciting) this great fan base would be advertising the car for him.

And / or take a video of a proper flying lap on a track (as it has been stated about the car being so solid and great for kerb hopping), split said video up into a number of sections (5 to 10?), then post a section once a fortnight. Once the last section had been posted, post the whole thing as one item.
Easily keep people on the internet amused for at least two months with regular activity and get them dreaming about driving the car rather than staring at the front of the thing !!

A Depositor’s perspective:
Rear of the car ~~ Ace !
Side profile ~~ Ace !
Front ~~ looks unfinished imo and likely to be slightly modified (interestingly NO tangible pictures of no-plate and grille yet).
Interior ~~ needs cubby~hole/storage for keys, phone & charger AWAY from the glovebox. This is a MUST !!
Boot ~~ not yet properly seen as mechanisms for spoiler not yet fitted.
Engine ~~ sounds fabulously raucous !!
Wheels ~~ gloss black original Rimstocks for me.
Paint finish ~~ Ace !!!

I’m not remotely interested in Tuscan this Sag that.
If you want a Sag go speak with Dom and pay the £25k for his latest engine upgrade. I’m sure it will be great. But it’s like transplanting Usain Bolt’s legs on yer Granny ffs.. And,,,no doubt in 6 - 12 months time there’ll be a ‘plus’ version... You can harp on about ‘the good old days’...BUT...the Noble was and still IS a better car in every aspect.

I keep hearing of ‘all the fantastic alternative cars’...
Errrrr what exactly..????
Enlighten me someone puhleeeze. HAS to be brand new and SUB £90k. Right hand drive only.

Progress to date ~~ slow and awaiting the next round of financing (due Oct). Small amount req’d and my guess is that this was done a couple of months ago. Welsh ‘boyos’ to blame for not delivering their side of the bargain in time. And way beyond anything Les could do to speed things up. I expect the factory to be handed over before Spring 2019 (it has to be kitted out yet..).

Prototype will then be modified with all gadgets working for Depositors to engage with. I reckon tweaks will still continue for another 6 months.

Bullet~Proof~Build~Quality and engineering excellence is what I DEMAND and EXPECT. Nothing short of this will be tolerated. I cannot imagine Les letting anything out of his new shed until he’s completely confident.

Suggest we ALL get off his back and stop whining..and let them get on with it. Right at the very start of his take-over.. he did say...’no news until we have something to say’.

Wait for the next update...and don’t moan if they’re a bit late with it... drivingdrivingdriving

He unfortunately isn't here to defend himself and never would have lowered himself in any case, yet I felt the need to do so on his behalf considering the nonsense put forward, and for the record, I don't have any vested interests (and I am not a deposit holder, so my opinion is apparently irrelevant anyway).

When did Les and co?, take control? seems like a few years or more now, with not a lot to shout about. If I had been a billionaire and mad enough to put a deposit down, it would have been withdrawn about two years ago. At best, when I saw what it looked like. Its a stinker.

Hello GB,
Have read your posts with interest. It’s good to have input from one of the (for me) TVR golden era team!

What would you do to take the front of the new car from stinker to jaw dropper?

Now I like the black and white sketch. I know some of it is perspective but there are subtle differences that add up. A line here, a crease there, smaller opening, cheese grater grill. To me that looks great and I'd be really happy to have that in the garage.

The problem is though, that was the pic in the dating profile, and regardless of how brilliant the meal was, how good the chefs are, in the morning you wake up next to fish face, and that's not good.

You sneak out quietly, get through the front door and run like the clappers.

Good points but I don't agree with the alternatives needing to be new. At least for me, and I'm pretty sure there are others. When I'm looking to spend 90k on a car I look around and see what else is available, new or not. When it comes time to commit I'm definitely going to be assessing whether or not the Griff is the fastest, best handling, loudest, maddest, and best looking road car I can get for that money. Isn't that the whole point of a TVR?

This is spot on, and I’ve made this point before. With warranties being made available on the majority of used options, certain cars of genre, that years ago wouldn’t be considered come into play.. cars like the mclaren 12c.
