New TVR still under wraps!
Discussion
The NDA included a clause prohibiting reproducing, detailing or disseminating any Confidential Information or material viewed - including posting on forums etc, so I can understand why people are hesitant to do so. I don't think it's due to the legal implications necessarily but Les did ask very nicely for people not to spoil the build up to the public reveal and I think that's fair enough.
Now I've never owned a TVR so this may mean nothing but my impression was that they have been diligent in understanding what makes a TVR different and incorporated that into the car's characteristics while being careful to appeal to as broad a segment of the buyers in this space - a loud V8 sports car that is instantly recognisable as a TVR and something special. Much of the appeal of the TVR (in my limited experience with one) is physical - noise, feel, smell, performance - and so while the model shown was certainly enough for me to keep my deposit in, and advise friends to take up any open slots, I think the real excitement is going to appear when an actual car fires up in public. I for one am really looking forward to that.

Worrying lack of viewers saying how much they loved it.
I know they can't say anything specific about it but have they also been banned from voicing an opinion.
Loved it.
Hate it.
Marmite.

I agree, some idea on here would be good. Speaking to a couple of deposit holders though they weren't exaclty ecstatic I know they can't say anything specific about it but have they also been banned from voicing an opinion.

That wasn't the case with my group. Everyone seemed incredibly impressed. Even my wife said "it looks absolutely stunning" and started to choose colours! I was really happy with the design but don't want to say more at this point but I doubt you'll be disappointed come the public reveal in Q3!Called a Griffith and definitely not at FOS according to this brief article:

Griff owners are going to be insufferable

FTFY. Griff owners are going to be more insufferable
Does seem the most logical of the existing model names to use and it does seem logical to use one of the old model names for the new car so it seems fine to me.
Ultimately, it was the Griff that put TVR on the global map and instantly separated it from all the other similar manufacturers at that time and saw the brand being seriously contrasted with the mass market performance cars.

I personally think that to name it 'Griffith' would be a mistake. They should have a new name, They missed out on something like 'Vulcan' and surely they can come up with something as good.
Ok let's start a (Greek God(dess)) naming game... Again! Aphaia

Griffith was named after the US importer Jack (as I recall) Griffith who did what Shelby did with the AC to make the Cobra - drop a big V8 in. Griffith followed the same route with TVRs. So no mythical/Greek/Roman connection at all.
I'm not sure what all the obsession is with mythical names anyway. Sure Chimaera, and Cerbera if you accept a mis-spelling. But off the top of my head Tuscan, Taimar, Tasmin and Tamora had no mythical link. Then we have letters and numbers like S-series, V8S, 450SEAC and T350 so it's hardly like mythical beasts, even misspelled ones, made the bulk of the historic names.
