Don't forget, the C7 weighs 400 kg (1/3rd of TVR or 1/4th of the C7!) more than then TVR and even if it has the power to make up for it, the 400kg will make themselves felt while driving.
...don't forget the new TVR will probably weigh 200Kg more than my Tuscan (1/5 of its weight) and will make maybe 50hp less weeping

But it's a compromise I've taken on-board on the basis of it being a proper road car.

That corvette render is an 'artists render' from Car and Driver; about as accurate as a typical render from Autocar.

GM are testing a mid-engined mule but its not the first time they've done that and a mid-engined corvette has been rumoured for 50+ years. Believe it when you see it and treat the renders with more than a few pinches of salt.

Rocks, no doubt. But one thing should be kept in mind: this is 2017 and it will be a fully EU homologated car matching the latest safety and environmental regulations, with a serious chassis and a big engine. There aren't that many cars that go a lot lighter given the targeted feature set. Sure you get the Donkervoorts and the Elises, but they hopefully got nothing in common. 2.5 kg/hp is mighty, there aren't that many contenders in that space for that money with a similar philosopy.

Its been pretty much confirmed now that the mid engine platform will take over as the C8 and be used exclusively for the corvette.

Thing that always put me off with C7 is all the bells and whistles that you can't get rid off. In terms of looks it's cool (not sure about the rear, but definitely way better than the predecessors), but after really looking at all pictures of the TVR again (especially the black pic from page 1 of this thread) and combining it with what i can remember from the reveal, i think TVR have something really cool and unique on their hands. In the end, the TVR will turn a lot more heads than the C7.
It is always a problem with US sports cars. Even today now they handle very well and the interiors have been massively improved you still have that very significant problem that you're sitting inside a car that has clearly been designed to cater for fat, dumb lads who can't even flush their toilet without assistance.

Funny you say that as I witnessed the latest or very new Viper drag racing recently and when I asked the guy how he was doing he mentioned he'd filled the boot with bricks to get grip. Throttle control might be a good idea as it weighs 1800 or so without the bricks biggrin . yikes

Cool, thx. Link seems broken, though, just go to http://www.motoring.com.au

It says "... the Cosworth-tuned Ford ‘Coyote’ V8 will eventually be available in five states of tune — standard, ‘big power’,’track day-spec’ and two further versions ...".

Is that planned for the launch edition or for later versions ?

Neither link is working for me, even google search shows the site linked but I'm unable to open it? Can't believe TVR could get it shut down....

Just tried again, works. Just scroll down on the front-page or search for TVR.

Here's another update from autocar:

Both links above for me. Not sure about this bit:

"While the new model is said to be already sold out for 2017..."

I was under the impression that they were still accepting deposits, but stand to be corrected.

I think these articles are work in progress with new bits and pieces added if there is something new. 2017 is off the table and technically it's also not correct as there are actually no cars at all already sold and there are also a few deposits left. I think it just makes for a better headline and in the end noone cares. Also most of the blogs/articles/magazines seem to copy each other as i've seen basically the same article all over.

But what about this:

https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2017/jul/25/b...

Time for TVR to revamp the e-strategy ? Get those V8s while you can !!

Yep. I was personally hoping for hydrogen-combustion but that does not seem to be happening. But with all that's going on right now, diesel-scandal in Germany etc. Tesla, the hype that self-driving cars are generating i think that the e-thing is close to the tipping point where it will gain massive momentum very fast. Not selling petrol-vehicles in 2040 (will be similar in other countries) means we are going to see massive changes in infrastructure, awareness, growing volumes, regulations, taxation etc. starting already in the next 2-3 years. I am pretty sure that in 5 years on you will not be allowed to build a new house / car park / office building that does not have dedicated loading facilities for e-cars.

Also, from a driving point of view it might not sound like a V8, but these things deliver brutal torque from the start. I've seen a 700 HP Hellcat being destroyed by a Tesla, the Hellcat guy was close to tears.
Changes in solid-state batteries might also help in getting very low center of weight (? that a valid expression) which should help driving dynamics and there is lot less stuff that can break or wears off.

The e-future might not be that bad.

But e-powered effectively means an auto box or in other words, no manual and no gears at all. No gears and no noise is 2 thirds of the equation missing. Yes bags of torque and acceleration, but that's doesn't nearly make up for what's missing in the experience IMO.
