New TVR still under wraps!

The grille is a nod to Peter Wheeler who loved his Aston Martins, for the Chimaera he took the Aston grille design and turned it upside down. The new Griffith grille apes that design
It’s nothing like an upside down Aston grille, so a miserable fail if that was the intention. If they were trying to subtly link the design to another car, then if anything it should have taken its inspiration from the Mustang given the actual direct links to it. If the grill was shaped like the Mustang’s it would look immeasurably better.
The Chimaera originally had the grille the correct way up but John Ravenscroft was concerned about plagiarism so they inverted (and slightly flattened) it

Despite what a minority of people on here seem to be saying, we do naturaly see faces in cars the phenomenon is called paeidolia, and the ‘expression’ on the face definitely matters to buyers.
Time after time, research indicates people prefer cars to have masculine, dominating (the stairs) and slightly angry faces.
It’s remarkable at least to design a masculine powerful sports car like a TVR and put a gormless smile on it,
Check out the faces of Aston Martin over the years. Masculine, purposeful a bit angry looking.
Even the preview pictures showed a more masculine face.
But instead this was made.
Which is totally at odds with the rear and side of the car, which are much more aggressive looking, Did GM design the whole car? It looks more like he did most of it and then left and someone else did the front.

Its just the same as the sketch.
Glad it wasn't just me.. It looks exactly the same as the sketch! That and the higher contrast in the sketch is why the sketch looks rougher and edgier than the photo. And, i agree, the front really does does look better in the sketch.

Seeing the car at autosport I was shocked by how good it looked in the flesh. I also got to have a lengthy chat with the PR man (forget his name) who said that the market for spiders isn't big enough, which is fair comment as most people asking are enthusiasts of 'old TVR' and there's no guarantee the design will find a market outside of those.

Interesting that they have a PR man, I wonder who he PR's with when not at shows.Would be good to see him having the website updated now and again and possibly communicating a bit better on when the car is being shown so deposit holders can plan to see it.
I really like the car and would be a first time TVR owner but something just grinds with me on their customer focus. It is early days so will put it down to not having many people for now.

Agreed! It was always the Griff 500 for me, then the Cerbera. So I had to have them. Someone mentioned the price of the new Griffith....always interesting to look back on my own TVR's in today's money (roughly):
My Griff 500 @ £36,680 (2000 base) --> £58,456 approx today
My Cerbera @ £46,500 (2003 invoice, I think, off my head) --> £69,495 approx today
What about the Cerbera Speed 12 @ £188,000 (2000) ---> £299,615 approx today
Anyways, that aside, I'm looking forward to more information on the new Griffith and will wait to see what happens during 2018. My deposit is still in play.
