Have just watched Shmee’s latest opus..
Ford Gt
650 bhp
1360kg
Carbon tub and bodywork
Very plasticy and rather boring interior
Way too many buttons
Horrid steering wheel
No boot
No storage
No manual gearbox
Small rear diffuser
Aero EVERYTHING
Cost £360,000
(((VERY cool front lights)))

Methinks Les will have a very big grin on his face when he’s seen that video...
yesyesyes
are you on crack Spag? You're comparing the Ford GT to the 'potential' new TVR?

rofl

Well, what I can't fault is your searing optimism for the new Griff, despite the way it looks and everything else around it.
rolleyesrolleyesrolleyes
I'll have "the white one" with the Ford-GT front lights please....and a bigger boot to keep me "stash"...eekeekeek

From the last update:

Additionally, we plan to allocate additional funds to accelerate start of production in Wales, in order to recover some of the time lost due to the above delays. We hope to be able to make a formal announcement that works are under way on or shortly after 15th January. More the moment we have it...

Yes the Ecoboost to finish production in South Wales by the end of the year. And Jaguar Landrover's engine contract is also up at the same time. BBC Ceefax reports that a Welsh MP is encouraging the Welsh government to support Ford to start production of electric engines instead, in the hope of saving a lot of jobs. wink

Fingers crossed.
My mates got a Smart electric car and a plug on the wall of his house that he uses to charge it once a week, he’s an electrical geek and tells me it costs him about 2p a mile.
He also just bought a Brabus smart car thingy and I drove the electric car back for him, well impressed so I was and really nippy and perfect for his daily commute. It’s the future for sure.
An electric Tvr might not be that far off.

Only if it’s a scalextric one Al...... by the time new TVR arrives it will be as ‘old hat’ as our Chims and Griffs are now... much as I wanted this to work I fear they’ve missed the moment frown

I hope not Ric
The chassis design looked so good and the car is light so maybe the electric thing might not be such a bad idea, my mates little smart car shifts and it must be over 20 years ago I was at Zytec engineering who at that time built racing engines and the very engine Senna first shook the world with his performance for Toleman at Monaco and I was shown a very secret little electrical motor that produced huge power output for its diminutive size and was told then it was the future. We lead the world then bloody lag behind,,,, sound familiar!

Has anything happened with the bid to to build the Inneos not-a-Defender there?

Great if the journey is a few miles each time and my mate who has a Leaf finds any long distance drive is a complete nightmare. Electric has its place but is only part of the future. It’s s different topic but fitting whole-house LED bulbs will do more for the planet albeit the power providers are just increasing costs to balance the reduction in sales - there’s no way their shareholders will take any hit.
Apologies again as it’s off topic.

Yes that’s true regards distance driving. I can see a place for electric for local commutes mostly.
Car sharing would probably save the planet far more of its resources than anything else.

Also, as some have said, the new Supra looks quite similar to the new TVR. Personally, I think Schmee's video makes it look over styled in my eyes; I prefer the TVR.

If the bonnet is high enough all you need is the right supercharger ,the right software ,£10k ish and voila 700 ++,have done it with same engine minus the cosworth bit and was pretty daily driverish too.

I got to Day 3 on dry January and gave up.

I decided life was finite and at my age, why bother.

Maybe Les is thinking the same about the update?
