My lawyers will be writing a strongly worded letter to Messrs Excellence resorts in the morning asking how that photograph came to be in the public domain. And the mankini was yesterday, My Speedo’s are orange. Obviously.

I work around TVRs everyday, and run a business specialising in taking them apart, and putting them back together (eventually!) I've written a book about them. I own two at the moment. I speak to a lot of people in TVR circles, and do you want to know what the overriding theme is surrounding the new car? No? Well, I'm gonna tell you anyway. It's that the majority of people who have a dig, or who have only got negative things to say, aren't people who've ordered one. Overwhelmingly, the people who've placed orders seem to be patiently waiting, and understanding that the practical realities of building a new car can often differ from the technical planning. It's a mammoth undertaking. There will be delays, and if I was one of the lucky ones with a deposit on, I'd rather assume no news is good news, and that the team are putting their resources into getting my car built, not a PR exercise to appease people who've no intention of buying one. I've got a lot of respect for people who put their faith in this project, and I genuinely hope it works out for each and every one of you.

Yeah. That's exactly what I was going for.robsco said:
He’s forgetting about the number of people who’ve pulled their deposits. He’s also forgetting that the “PR exercises” he dismisses are, in actual fact, precisely FOR the people who have put their hard earned deposits down, not for those who discuss it on a forum. Truth be told, I’m one of those people who wouldn’t buy one, even if I did have the money. I wish the company the greatest of success because it’s the brand that means more to me than any other, but in this instance, the badge is where the similarities to the old cars end. Had I have placed a deposit, then looking at the progress made so far, I’d have pulled it a long time ago.
In fairness, I'm only going by those I've spoken to and interacted with. I don't know anyone who's pulled their deposit myself, though undoubtedly there will be those who have, hence why I said I have respect for anyone who's stuck with it this long. It takes a real show of faith to hang in there, and I sincerely hope that the faith shown pays dividends.I have to disagree with the PR exercises bit. Some communication with those who've stumped up is, of course, vital, and I can't speak for those who've plumped up the deposit, as I don't have two pennies to rub together, so couldn't afford the deposit myself! But if I had, I'd be more assured knowing that I was getting 'behind the scenes' information, rather than lots of resources being put into marketing, because ultimately, marketing is almost free these days (relatively speaking), if you know how to play the Internet. Essentially, the cars will sell themselves, if they cars to sell. They are the marketing, pure and simple, so I'd want all their resources pinned into building my car, not trying to make it looks real to people on internet forums and social media who haven't paid a penny.

Lol, not surprising as he is a director of Southways Automotive Ltd - TVR in Hampshire.

Oh and Richard, no news is no news.
Director by technicality. In reality I'm a scruffy grease monkey who likes cars.
And though it's not always the case, I think in this instance no news can be good news. There are too many high-profile names involved with reputations at stake for this all to go tits up. I'd rather it was played safe, and if that means playing slow, so be it. st, it takes years to restore a car for most people, so trying to design and manufacture a brand new sports car from scratch? There are so many hoops I have to jump through just to put a car through IVA, so I can only imagine what a Herculean task it must be to get that thing into production. And, I also know first hand that counting your chickens before the eggs have hatched is a risky business, so if they're not ready to unveil more, so be it. Depositors can stick or twist; Their call.

And in other news...
About three years ago I decided beastie needed a body off and chassis refurb.... So I'm doing it this year Took her off the road in August last year, and she's not been out of the garage since. Only did about 600 miles in her last year So, it's time for a refurb, refresh, and lots of top off (the car) motoring this year
Yes I know it's the wrong thread, but this one has got so bloody miserable I thought I'd put a little sunshine and smiles in to it...
Completely normal. Keep going; At least you're doing it properly. Just don't powdercoat it About three years ago I decided beastie needed a body off and chassis refurb.... Anyway, thanks everybody. You brightened yet another meaningless weekend where I sit around patiently waiting for death to come.

Patience is not one of my virtues so when an email says, 'Big news in the next email' etc and it doesn't happen time and again, I get frustrated with them. Promises of the factory refurb to start January and more delays. Then another email to say the test facility is an option to start building if the factory is not ready but that too is delayed.
As you say, some big names in there with reputations, so you'd hope they wouldn't keep putting their feet in it. I find it hard to believe the factory tender process was not fully explained involving government departments and inevitable delays and problems. The Welsh government has handed them a £2.5m loan so surely they have done their homework? And at this rate, the loan will be due to be repaid before full production even starts.
But we are still waiting for 'big news' which implied there might be a financial backer to carry the project forward.

Being the first poster on here who is on the TVR payroll, albeit several volumes in and in the shadow of what is now years of our being fobbed off with titbits and promises from TVR that have never materialised, it not surprising you’ll get some stick. There are many diehard aficionados here who really want the Griffith to happen but it’s frankly become a bit of a farce. There are three pertinent questions:1. Why have there been no proper updates? Aside from there being ‘no news’ (which is just a cliche as there has to be progress daily or the feeling that it’s a dead duck is right).
2. At odds that gave you a return above bank rate, would you place a bet of £10k on it happening?
3. TVR have no workforce, no factory, no communication strategy and have seriously pissed of a number of devotees and made others the laughing stock for putting deposits on what seems a pipe dream. Why do TVR sit back and watch this happen ?

You've totally lost me. I'm on the TVR payroll no more than you are. I maintain and repair some of the older models at a small, independant workshop that has no ties or affiliations with TVR. And if we did, we'd have the same for all manner of kit cars and other oddball machines.1. Why have there been no proper updates? In answer to your questions:
1. I don't know.
2. No, I'd pay off some of my mortgage.
3. See answer to first question.
