Anyone know if you can permanently dye the roof material from blue to black?
I've bought a roof that's already split and the rubbers would need redoing if I recover it.

I had exactly the same problem a couple of years ago and went down the Renovo route. I gave the roof a good clean with the Renovo cleaner and then gave it 2 coats of the black dye stuff. I proofed it with Fabsil. The roof although black was marginally different from the rest of the roof - no surprise there though really and it was not too bad so it was fine for general use. After a couple of months there was a slight blue tinge visible in some light conditions so over the winter I again cleaned the roof and gave it 2 more coats of the Renovo black dye stuff followed by proofing. The colour is still not the same as the original (rear) part of the roof but is not too bad with the blue tinge not being noted now, and in terms of useability when touring it is absolutely fine.
Incidentally my split roof does not have a seal at the centre. The fabric comes down the join and if it is fitted tightly together by means of locking one side and firmly knicking the other side in and then doing the same from the other side it seems fine. The car was left overnight last year in very heavy rain and there was only a few drops from the rear where the panels meet the hoop so as I had left a towel there in case it was fine. Suspect that giving it a good proofing at the join helped there.

Cheers Jim,
I've just ordered the dye/reviver but Is the cleaner needed? There's nothing visible to clean off.
The roof I've got has a1mm rubber seal either side with two metal catches and looks to be a proper job....
I'm hoping the catches aren't needed as im quite tall and headroom/being brained is an issue...

I tried Renovo to dye my blue hood black.

I gave it several coats and was never happy with it the Renovo just doesn't cover well enough and the blue comes through after a bit. In the end I replaced my hood with black one.

The hood material is just that though ... material.

If I had to try the same again, I would try using a carpet dye or spray like this:
