My Monster 1200 was nearly stolen this lunch time. An extremely brazen attempt since I was literally metres away when I heard the steering lock being broken. Running to the open front door, I saw 3 tts trying to wheel it away. They dropped it on the non exhaust side, so damage there seems limited to scraped rear peg and handlebar, broken mirror.
Steering lock is obviously fked and there's damage to the top triple clamp.

I can also move the tank around quite a lot now which is not right, even though there's no sign of any damage/impact to it.

Any idea what this is going to cost me to get back to how it was?
Any recommendations for places to get it repaired in Manchester since the obvious choice weren't that helpful with advice and seemingly wouldn't be able to have a look for ages.
Thanks

Exactly the same as it would if you had just kept schtumm, and watched them wander off with it frown

Not helpful, but its a bike, and the parts for the repair are going to exceed the excess, and you get stuck with a fault claim as well.

Mental.

Can't help on repair costs but it still amazes me that my insurers still insist the bike is left with the steering lock on when they are broken so easily and just add to to the repair bill.

I had this argument with Axa when my R1 was nicked; it had an Almax chain and Squire lock on and he was arguing the toss about the bloody steering lock!

A swift yank on the handlebars often snaps off the lugs on the headstock so, technically, ruining the frame.

They're a waste of time and insurers ought to be a bit more sensible. Incidentally the chap said words to the effect of "fair point" and I was paid out in nine days.

I can't see that from just dropping it?

They broke the steering lock. If that means they sheared the aluminium pillars on the frame at the headstock then there is your possible write-off.
