Caravan rear view camera
Discussion
Anyone fitted a rear view camera to their caravan?
Ive just bought one from reversingcamerasuk.com
I haven't fitted it yet but the kit looks very easy to fit. Ive gone for a twin lens camera and a mirror mounted monitor which is powered vis the 12v cigarette socket.
I might be running the cable along the caravans offside awning rail and into the front locker. Im considering bonding a piece of 'L' shaped plastic to the roof of the caravan, then bolting the camera to the plastic as I don't want to drill holes in the caravan.
I connected it all together today and it works well

I have a very similar kit in my motorhome, but with a white camera.
The wiring was a pain to run through the motorhome and cab to get to the mirror area, but the kit is really good. The mirror mounted screen fits well and has never moved / fallen off.
If I remember correctly one camera is wider angle that the other - I think when mine was supplied the wide angle looked rear and the narrower one looked down, I swapped these over as they work much better that way. I never bothered with the auto switching to reverse either, I use the touch buttons on the screen to change between rear view and downwards view.
The do take a bit of adjustment to get the views you want, but once tightened up they haven't moved at all.

Started fitting this today. Ran the cable inside the caravans offside awning rail, then under the floor and into the front locker which is where I will connect to the cable from my car.
Had to use a chisel to prise open the awning rail slightly to fit the cable in..
Then routed the cable up and into the front locker..
Cut a piece of upvc to size to bond to the roof of the caravan, which the camera will bolt to.
Roof- cable will be concealed inside a length of plastic conduit to where it enters the awning rail
Will be finishing it off tomorrow.
