With the recent thread on here regarding the extra cost to book a seat and people nt wanting to pay up etc, are we likely to see more headlines like this....

(Obviously not just unaccompanied minors)

The quicker this practice is banned, the better.

Aside from the issue of over booking, how does the system allocate a seat twice? surely once you've checked in and got your boarding pass thats it? Sorry for any ignorance.

Obviously turning a kid in your charge away is a disgrace.

I'm astonished that anybody still thinks the antics of this lot are worthy of cyber ink or comment generally.

I personally think its great, hardly anyone else books a seat, so i can book seat 1A for an extra £15 smile

I flew out to Majorca the other day and seat 1B next to me was empty.

So not only did i get the extra leg room, but nobody next to me as well, all for £15 smile

Is your theory that once things get beyond a certain level of terribleness we just give up and let them happen? Perhaps that's why Trump is still President?

Although not everyone pays to books a seat, everyone gets allocated one when they check in.

I thought easyjet et al had moved away from over booking due to bad press a few years back?

easyJet overbooked my flight on Tuesday by 3. Offered £250 per person per day to take a flight on Thursday instead.

Isnt that the US solution - keep asking if a passenger will take cash for a seat and noone takes off until they do
Better than just throwing someone off

Throwing someone off (with an optional broken nose) is option b.

I've had similar on an internal flight where they were overbooked and giving people 250 quid to spend in the Wetherspoons.

I don't understand how they choose who leaves, when you have a boarding pass it has your seat number. Do multiple people have the same seat number? Surely its then whoever was in the seat first (which contradicts what happened to this lad)?

BA are going down the pan, now this with EasyJet. Prime time for someone else to step up a non-st Edinburgh to London route.

The thing that got me about this story is that you must be a weapons grade to stand there and get some poor 15 year old on his own kicked off the plane. Hope the knob who took his seat is happy.

No, very different. If nobody spent money with them they'd be broke in a week. Their customers tolerate their cr*p and then whinge. I'd rather not travel than fly with EasyJet or Ryanair.

Silly thing is that Ryanair really aren't too bad at all nowadays.
I've flown with them dozens of times with no problems at all. I certainly can't say the same for Easyjet.

The statement from EasyJet in that article basically says sorry we shouldn't have let him on the plane in the first place!

So one way or another, a kid was going to be left standing at the gate or at check in.

What a shower of wkers they have been on this occasion.
