I'm looking to by my first TVR soon. The cars from Amore look good and pricing seems mid range of what's being asked. They're a long way from me so would like to make sure their reputation is good.
Thanks
Stuart
Would you consider buying privately, you could possibly buy the car of your dreams for less money! Thanks
Stuart
I bought my Tuscan from Amore and they were absolutely fantastic to deal with. The whole process from initial enquiry to collecting the car was brilliant. Paul and Mark are proper TVR guys, they know their stuff and treat you as a mate down the pub chatting about cars would. I would recommend them highly. Oh.....and the Tuscan is Superb!!!!!!!
Hi PHers!
After selling out all the mx5 related things - including my 5th mx5, an 1.8 swapped mp62'd '90 - I am on a hunt for a decent TVR Chimaera.
My budget is tight - 10k - but I think with a bit of luck I can find a good one.
My first questions: my mx5 had 260hp, will a 4.0 Chim give similar exoerience in terms of perfornance? Is a 10k budget realistic for a reliable Chim?
As I will bring the car to Hungary MOT not needed, Cat C or D is also no probkem but the car must be good/properly repaired.
I check PH every day (well, a couple of times per day....or per hour:-) and I found Amoreautos being a good source but they have nothing within my budget now.
Any kind of Cimaera or Amoreautos related comment, idea, opinion or warning wellcome.
Thanks,
Peter

On paper the Mx5 should be quicker, Tvr are well known for over egging their power figures with most standard 400 cars being closer to 200 Bhp. You will find cars with slightly more but this is a complete lottery.
The 400 is still a cracking car but most owners wish they had a bit more grunt, the bigger engine cars command a premium.
Looking at the market in the summer 10k would get you a nice 400.
Supercharging/Turbocharging the 400 is a possibility but it gets expensive, I looked at those options before deciding on a fresh 4.6 engine

This one has sold for £7750. Don't like the aftermarket lights personally, and it has gauge problems as described but has gone pretty cheap I'd say:

And this for 10,5k was very close an looked decent. Already sold unfortunately.

How about this?
There is another partially restored one on there too for similar money.
Most people would probably settle for a decent offer for a hassle free sale. May be too far for you to travel though.

Good find.
I've just finished the communication with the owner. He would let it go for 10.500.
I told about myself and asked him if he could transport the car to Cambridge to the site of the trailer company.
I got a short answer in a minute " I am not interested "......
I think he really wants a hasslefree solution and the business with me seems problematic for him.
From my side I don't want to push him and he didn't confirm the car has PAS so I am not sure the car is the right one for me. There are engine bay pics in the ad, can you see if it had PAS?
I wrote a bloody long letter to Amoreautos yesterday to start communication with them but just before sending it my iphone decided to switch off for a second......I lost the letter of course....

It looks like the car and classic car has pas as the reservoir is next to the plenum. By asking him to deliver to a courier you come across as a scammer, you may be genuine but that sort of approach will stop people trusting you. You would be best to travel, view and drive it back yourself.I've just finished the communication with the owner. He would let it go for 10.500.

Ah I see, thanks.
It costs a lot travelling there and back to Cambridge with the car and the price is already out of budget by 500...
Sadly I must forget it.
It's frustrating people think I am a scammer.... I hink my initial idea of turning to Amoreautos was good, they can handle a buyer like me I assume. It is not that complicated or risky. I am the one who will pay a small fortune without seeing the car, the risk is on my side.

It's Going to cost money to ship a car, so use that to check your purchase first and drive it back. Cheap flights exist that will make t worthwhile. If you do it all remotely the cost to fix stuff after will likely be greater. The remote buyer is a common scam so you will struggle to find people that will trust you as a private sale.It costs a lot travelling there and back to Cambridge with the car and the price is already out of budget by 500...

Amore have a car at 11k currently, that is about as cheap as a chimaera will get from a dealer that has been prepared, and lower risk to you. That is probably your best bet.
