BUT
my experience with them was so shocking that I have to comment on it.
Back in 2017 (weird but true) I went to Blackpool (from Luxembourg) to meet up with a group of Cerbera owners for a meet'.
I was first there (by one whole day) but went in to introduce myself and ask about a possible 'touch up'.
David was superb and took a great detail of time and photographed the areas concerned in order to send me a written quote.
I left, very pleased.
Unfortunately, that night, I managed to develop a hole in my radiator.
The next morning I went back to S&D to plead my case. One of their staff confirmed that it wa a hole .
David rang around and managed to order one from S&D to be delivered the following day.
The only drawback was that S&D were unusually due to close that afternoon !
Once I'd persuaded David that I had travelled with enough tools to 'Do' the job myself (after all, I am a Cerbera owner ), He rearranged his forecort to give me the closest access to the workshop. He then authorised overtime for the staff for that afternoon and Saturday so that there would be someone on hand if I experienced any problems.
I managed to get the old radiator out by 17:00 and David came back to S&D to take me to a nearby hotel.
We chatted over a drink and I was extremely impressed by his attitude and ethics.
I went back to S&D the following morning, the delivery truck arrived with said Rad and I continued fitting.
David returned later, with his father, to make sure that all was OK.
During my time there I was offered endless cups of Tea and unrestricted access to any tools that I required.
I completed the job, completely impressed by everyone's warmth, understanding and over-the-top attitude to help a TVR owner in trouble.
I would recommend their positivity to TVR owners to anyone.

Shockingly good then. BUT

Surface & Design had a great reputation and were reasonably local to me so were the only people that I would consider using in order to achieve a high end finish on my TVR or Lotus. Unfortunately they seized trading last year, but the good news is that they are under new ownership, have retained their old staff and are now known as Lawfield & Abbott Automotive. My car has just been returned to me after having some small stress crack repairs, fibreglass reinforcement and a full re-spray and I can confirm that their workmanship is still first class. There was a slight misunderstanding with regards to some detail work around one of the headlights, but the customer service was exemplary and it was resolved without a quibble. I have no affiliation with the company, other than as a customer, but feel that excellent work deserves recognition and wish them all the best with the business.
Danny.
Danny.
I used them a few years ago to sort a major screw up by another bodyshop... they did a total strip back to gel coat and respray. Great job and I couldn't fault them.
This despite another pher, someone I'd never met or had anything to do with, phoning them up and stating i was trouble and no way should they deal with me...
I spoke to David about this who knew exactly who I was talking about, in his words that pher was someone you'd never toute of punching in the face!!! Pher Gloworm, we will meet in person one day at a car meet and I will put you on the floor!!
