https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-status gives the miles at MOT time for each year.

Most miles covered in a year: 8,201
Least miles covered in a year: 2,217 - Tuscan needed an engine rebuild so was off the road for most of the year. Year prior covered 6,014.

Total miles I have driven: 49,944
Average miles per year I have driven: 5,294

Interesting!

Got the Chim in Jan 2015 @ 49,669

Jan 2015 - Jan 2016 - 51,241 = 1,572m

Jan 2016 - Jan 2017 - 53,120 = 1,879m

Jan 2017 - today - 56,525 = 3,405m

Total = 6,856m

Pathetic, isn't it frown

Yes, and it sounds even more tragic if you read the 'm's as 'metres':

Jan 2015 - Jan 2016 - 51,241 = 1.6 km - possible explanation: forgot that it was your anniversary, dashed round to the shops in the chim to pick up flowers and chocolates to appease the missus, came home, dropped the keys down the back of the sofa and then couldn't find them for the rest of the year.

Jan 2016 - Jan 2017 - 53,120 = 1.9 km - possible explanation: forgot your anniversary (again), dashed round to the shops in the chim to pick up flowers and chocolates to appease the missus, couldn't remember which exit to take on the roundabout so spent an extra 5 minutes driving round in circles, came home, dog ate the keys, didn't find out where they'd gone until a routine x-ray at the vets a year later.

Jan 2017 - today - 56,525 = 3.4 km - possible explanation: forgot that it was your anniversary (again!), dashed round to the shops in the chim to pick up flowers and chocolates to appease the missus, got stuck at the roundabout, came home, realised you'd forgotten the flowers, back to the shops, come home, realise you've forgotten the car. Location of car and keys currently unknown.

Total = 6.9 km

I reckon Ben's Chimaera will have done a fair few miles in less than a year when he gets to somewhere near Tierra del Fuego at the end of his Pub2Pub challenge. driving

It's an amazing journey that's for sure.... and he/they get a bow from me too.

Not sure if you've spotted his latest update... https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Had to read that twice as I realised the MOT's are 3 years apart.
The most I have done is 3k miles in a year and least is 560 in the Chim.

As soon as I saw this thread I thought of Shorts. I met him and his T350 on a track day at Snett a few year ago (at about 190K I think) which makes everyone else's efforts seem very poor in comparison.

Does seem a bit much!
I finally relented after than year and bought a little run around but until then I had twentysomething years of driving a TVR as an ONLY car.
I now do more of the M25 and London miles in the other car so the TVR may live a few more years. Still expect to see 300,000 miles before too long............

I was wondering if someone would spot that smile
Nope divorced stopped the tvr play. Hence not being driven but more importantly I kept the car to drive again some day.

Just fantastic, your a guy who lives,,, hehe

You must live on the south coast and enjoy trips to Ben Nevis,,,, weekly biggrin
Maybe I’m not as mad as people say,,,,
Daily driver here. thumbup

ETA
Shorts, I see your a climber.
I worked at heights, 30 floors the highest and using harness etc,,, but I wasn’t climbing it biggrin

Did driving Tvr extend that thrill of the danger being controlled which you take great pleasure from, I gave up years ago and sometimes think it’s that thrill I get from the carwhich is why I can’t stop driving it, it’s ridiculous but I rarely tire of being in that place, the danger zone.
Maybe I am mad biglaugh
