Yep that’s why I do it

A soft car at speed is a bit naughty but below 100 mph and on our very uneaven roads is a better solution I find.
I removed my rear arb and I do indeed get more body roll but I never find myself pushing the car to it’s limits on most roads as I’d like to live for awhile yet, so it’s more a lofty Tourer as that’s how I tend to drive it.
Because you can’t really attack the roads it’s hard to get tyre bite so the extra body roll adds some weight onto the tyres which aids corner grip without having to chuck the car at the corner. Makes it easier with a lazy driving style.
Racetracks with nice smooth tarmac, these cars have another personality that given the right set up become very useable and huge fun.
It’s never going to turn in like a Lotus but it’s surprising what you can do with them but only on a track imo as the cars are just to fast on the roads, I come out of a corner in 2nd gear hit the loud pedal, well tickle it, change up, more acceleration and within 3-4 seconds I’m now well above the speed limit and still only in 3rd gear !
Circuits your circulating much faster than on the roads so the acceleration feels less and with practice quite easy to read how the cars going to react.

Progressive understeer if you carry to much speed into a corner
50/50 weight balance on these great cars
So mid corner trying to clip an apex and just balanced on the throttle rather than accelerating they feel really nice.
Progressive power oversteer if your mapping and foot is deft. This can be used as part of rotating the car imo and very effective it is too.
Basically make the rear turn more by sliding so you can get straight quicker

You can’t do that on the road,,, well I can’t.

It still weighs a tonne so it’s never going to corner like a Lotus but this
Progressive understeer
50/50 balance
Progressive oversteer
Is at least predicable and a ball when you get a nice wide airfield to play with.


Driving the car like that on open roads is highly unlikely so making it slightly more subtle over the bumps and softening the shocks works well for me.
This time of year especially my Wet settings are working well

Tyre pressures, oupps
Anything from 19-26 isn’t drastic. 30 I’d be a bit careful but might well heat up a bit quicker this time of year

I should have mentioned I’m going to put ARB back on as it’s a little loose really.
Since going for softer shocks the car could really do with it.

If you use a tyre size calculator my sizes are actually slightly larger than standard circumference and raise the car as much as 10 mm in themselves.

Probably has a tad more understeer on full lock if anything but otherwise only good results.

A lot of guys use Rainsports in various speed championships, the consensus is to increase the pressure as you say, by 4-6 psi dry, 6-8 wet. Oh & most have ditched the rear ARB.
