Has anyone looked at replacing the rest of the pedal bushings etc yet? Mine aren't in great shape and the smaller bar is a bit corroded and bent. I've seen the kit with stainless bar included for 85 quid at racetech but not sure if it's worth it.

What over bits are you thinking about.

I looked into replacing the main shaft to a 12mm stainless one and using roller bearings, and swapping out all the spacers to aluminum ones.
so it's something I could offer if there was demand.

but let me know what you need and I can look into doing it.

It's the smaller pivot shaft that's the worst but the surface of the larger alloy one is pitted at one end as well. I could sort out stainless replacements for them as I have a metal lathe but need to source all the bushings and thrust washers. Not sure it's worth going to roller bearings given the type of motion?

That's the 1st time I've seen a smooth curved accelerator, be interesting to hear your thoughts on how it feels, as that's what I was thinking of doing.

Had a quick look at the spare I have, this also had a bend shaft so seems to be a problem.
I could make bronze bushes for everything and use a stainless shaft, they are 8mm internal and 10mm external with a 4mm top hat.
or bore the links out to 12mm so you could use a 10mm shaft, as they seem to have a lot of meat on them.

Ideally it would be best to have the complete box and then make all the parts to have a nice fit, also swap all the plastic for bronze aluminum and stainless.

Metal has been ordered, so any interest will have to be on another batch,

As per the pedal box upgrade, the 8mm bar on the back is very weak for the length and load applied, the leavers are 20mm so there is room for a larger bar, and swapping from 8mm to 10mm over doubles the strength, so this should provid a much stronger system, all the bushes would need to be replaced with bronze, and the leavers bored out, and the box holes made slightly larger. so the complete box would need to be send to me for upgrade.

See below for details of stress on shafts comparing 8mm and 10mm this if just for the 150mm part that the brake goes on.

Received pedals, excellent quality and worth every penny. Very good job. I am a while away from fitting them so no pictures, but I am thoroughly impressed with their manufacture, thank you.

What was the reason for the delete of the original strengthening rib(s) on the backside of the pedals? Is it possible to get them with the strengthening rib(s)?

I've not got a CNC machine, so they are done manually, so the redesign was done to make possible to make with my current equipment.

on simulation tests my design is stronger as it has much stronger pivot pin location point, the single point on the back bone ones was quite weak.

my units are at leas 1mm thicker, but as pointed out, I've not got 10's of 10000 to spend on testing and development, so they are supplied are show car items only. I'm not sure if the original back bone units ever had certified testing, but my computer simulated tests show mine are stronger than the back bone ones.

if you have any doubt in your mind about using them its best you don't just for your peace of mind.

Hope this answers your questions.
Regards
Leigh

To to clarify these are the ones I'll be making. bottom picture compares mine to the back bone ones. It was post the design was slightly different and posted up 3D models for everyone to see
3rd picture show them after a final brushed finish.

Comparison of the 2 designs.

Link to see the 3D design,
Once these are finished we can look at the accelerator pedal options, I'm also looking at a better fixing kit with roller bearings , as all the plastic look crap.

The pedals arrived and look great.

I need to get my pedal box replated, as it's a bit of a mess from water getting into the footwell, so may look at adding a 4th support rib between the brake and throttle levers.

I'm currently doing a 12mm upgrade to Stuart's pedal box so will post pictures next week.
