The Vette interior looks pretty cheap tbh. Sure it’s a v8 and all but it doesn’t look like a quality cabin to me.

If it’s priced the same as a Porsche Boxter or cayman, I’d probably rather have one of those.
£62K for a new Cayman GTS manual for the guy with the sensible hat on, (that'll be me then given the chance).

I think it’s 60,000 usd for the vette so maybe it’s base model new caymans that are a realistic comparison. £48,000 is more like the (great) base cayman as far as I know.

I can see the 'vette being more like £80k when it hits our shores.

A 2019 Stingray here starts at £72,945 ($91,220). In the US it looks like they start at $55,900 so we're about 63% more expensive.

Using those numbers we're looking at £78,200 ($97,800).

Heart says Cayman GT4 all the way (if you could even get one). Inner child says Corvette smile

The more I watch the various YouTube videos of the corvette the less I like it.

GM have the LT5 engine that it can pop in the Corvette with about 750hp.

Straight swap for the base engine plus connect the inter cooler. Engine good for way more power too.

The new Vette will be a game changer.

Unbelievable that these big, no enormous motors are being built when all the sensible world are worrying about global warming?

Not saying I dislike huge power but I honestly wouldn't mind super lightweight sports cars, (not Caterham types!) with efficient smaller engines. Rocket fast with handling to match.

Reminds me of the time I hustled an Exige Sprint around Brands many years ago, what a revelation compared to a tvr.

Oh, and not electric.

Wouldn't that be great?

Maybe it's my 12mpg chim, (and 5mpg around a track) that's making me feel that way or maybe I'm starting to worry about the world now that I'm older wink

^^ this.

Like I say when the hybrid arrives, all of a sudden hyper cars are going to look a tad over priced.

Not saying I disagree but it’s notable how much of this kind of sentiment I see on here now, and this is a car forum.

It all seems to have happened very quickly in the U.K.

Years ago we had loads of ‘ first they came for the 4x4s’ type posts and everyone scoffed but now it seems likely the ICE and (even the hybrid) is nearing the end.

Worrying isn't it.

I think I dreamt of an SC MX5 last night. What's happening to me?

I doubt it by a long way unless Gov decide it shall be so having been pushed by nutters who don’t even own cars demonstrating outside H of P.
And if any of those nutters who do have electric cars think they’ll have zero tax and cheap electricity in 10 years time are deluded as Gov will need the tax revenue from cars to continue.
There’s plenty of ways so save the planet and the bizarre fixation against straws and carrier bags is a grain of sand compared with the wastage from building, importing millions of tons of stuff we can make here, or using a city’s worth of energy to transport a plane load of tourists somewhere nice. But that’s all another topic.

For me the it’s the engineering of ICE, the whole working entity living thing nuts and bolts bit. It’s not looking at car ads unless the engine is shown. Here is an electric engine:

Which looks like this

And the equivalent ICE:

My wife picked up her birthday present yesterday, a cracking little MX5.

I haven't driven it yet, but it's all there, front engine rear drive, convertible, buzzy little roadster. It reminds me very much of a baby Chimaera.

But anyway, back to the Vette vs Griff, there is no way they are going to build the Griff now, they've missed the boat. And not that I'd ever consider buying the new Griff even if it was available, I would seriously look at that Vette. I agree, lots of cuts and vents in the design, it doesn't 'flow' like a Cerbera or to a lesser extent a Sagaris, but that is the way of car design now. Look at the GT40 Ford race.

Too bloody right! A mad max machine with rotating knives on the wheels would be more appropriate!

With a big V8 of course........

In retrospect I guess what the last few days, plus the preceding months has told us, is we need to come to a new level of acceptance.

There won’t be a new front end, the new car probably won’t happen, and there’s new competitors with 90% of the ingredients ready to roll.

What’s strange is on the goodwood site they have a video of assembling the new car. Strange they didn’t just do that at their existing premises.
