Right, here’s a quiz. Well it’s not really a quiz. It’s just a question really. Only requires one answer.
So, you’ve got 90k in the bank (or not, doesn’t matter). All this hard earned was going to buy a shiny new TVR. Now it isn’t. So it’s still sitting there, doing nothing... here’s the thing, you HAVE to buy a car with it. One car. Doesn’t have to be new... what’s it gonna be fellas? We know what tvrolet went for... I know what my 90k (that I don’t have) will go on... c’mon, fess up

I think you already have one Richard, but the obvious answer for anyone else is below.
Many TVR owners have made the step, and you might only need to spend about half of the 90k to get a beauty.

I can't believe that people are waiting for a unicorn when there are so many great cars out there that you can actually buy!
Your last sentence is quite correct, but you seem to have accidentally included a Velar in your list. A typo, surely? TVR Sagaris

It was voted Most Beautiful Car In The World in 2018 you know (an accolade the Edgar Abomination would never be in danger of receiving). Far be it for me to argue in the face of public opinion.

I remember that survey it was conducted in the waiting room of my local specsavers unrepentant said:

Since getting my deposit returned about a year ago, I've bought the final two in the list instead of the new car, which means TVR's are now my only mode of transport. I'm perfectly happy with that!

Been lurking for a while.. waiting patiently for more news..
Just waded back through my emails, i put my deposit down almost 2 years ago (did so just after the reveal at goodwood revival).
I REALLY want(ed) a new Griffith.
Any minute now you'll be able to guy a 570GT for the same price of the Griff.. Can already get a heap of nearly new exotica for similar money, in fact I've been through a Vantage, Tuscan, F599 and now an R8 V10 in roughly the same time. I've had the deposit on.
Just feel a bit disappointed by it all really. I had no issues with the looks, (maybe I have low standards), thought the interior was nice enough, pleased with the specs, liked the feel of the gear change and driving position when I had a chance to have a sit in the prototype.
Feels a lot like nothing will ever come of it now, and the moment has passed. Scared to phone and see about getting my deposit back, I half expect nobody to answer the call and have images of a single phone ringing in a dusty and deserted office space.
Nothing more to add really, other than ... gutted..

Another lurker here ...TVR owner for 14 years
I went to the Goodwood Revival reveal too. Wasn't so enamored with the front or back, too Japanese looking in parts. Liked the side profile and thought it represented a good first stab. Les' opening presentation was a bit of a fumble but could forgive him that as he came across as a petrol head who had the balls to try something new. A lot of people in that room were meh about the car but wanted him to succeed.
I'm gobsmacked with how poor the comms has been, especially to the deposit holders. It's just shocking. Every entrepreneur has an ego, (and it's usually required to have the confidence to start a venture in the first place) I just wonder if that ego is the very thing that's stopping the painful admission of failure?

So here’s a question - what would all you ex-deposit holders do if there was an announcement on Tuesday from Les/TVR to say that finance had been secured, all obstacles had been overcome and that production would unequivocally, undoubtedly 100% start on 1st March 2020? Would you dive back in or would you sit back and see what happened?

Production starting on a five year old car and design? With a five year old (at least) engine?Nobody in their right mind would buy it. Like Samsung announcing their S7/edge or Apple their 6S iPhone for release in April next year.
I wonder whether the intention was to get a full order book of deposits for 500 cars, then with a prototype (and a factory) hope an investor would step in to get production moving.
I can't see anyone stepping forward with investment now, seeing the car is looking dated and with a depleted list of depositors.
Time has moved on and it is debatable whether even the 500 launch cars would find buyers now.
Sad really, it was all a bit too ambitious.

If genuine progress is apparent, i.e. work on the factory is actually underway, I'd still be interested, but wouldn't put any money in until cars started to appear. The trust has gone I'm afraid.Gassing Station | General TVR Stuff & Gossip | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
