But, if as alluded to, Newco don't need the deposits to manufacture, it makes no difference.

I often wondered, its taken TVR so long, all that time (many years now) waiting (deposit holders especially) for the new production car so they can deliver...but still did not deliver...

What would you have bought, if you knew that many years ago, there is not going to be a new TVR and you did not have paid that 'ransom' (just kidding) money.

What would you have bought instead...and did you not waisted many years without the pleasure of driving a car you would have bought instead?

I came to that thought, while I was in a project car (almost all ready expect RDW) but it would take max 8 months (since end 2015) and still I can not go and have fun with it or test it.
For my waiting time I bought a simple small car for need, no fun but hey, a few months no problem...and then another small car and then...pfff stress why does it take that long etc etc...in the end I bought a in the 'middle' car, which I could have a little bit fun in, but ofcourse not what I should have had ready.

so, what would you have bought if you knew it by then (no new TVR for at least many years), before all hope begone so to say, just wondering ;-)

I'm pretty sure they don't need them. But having all deposits pulled under your feet and still continue would take even bigger balls than starting the whole show in the first place. You would also have to bring some powerful add-ons to your A-game when talking to potential investors/creditors.

When this thing is over, one way or the other, there will be some explaining to do. That's for sure.

Completely different. Still made in Britain, continuous history etc.... Same with the Lambo. "TVR" has nothing to connect it with TVR except a name that was basically bought off the shelf. No heritage, no know how, no nothing.

If it fails, then I will at least be able to say that I took a punt with my eyes wide open to the risks, knowing that I did so from the heart.

Can I interest sir in some magic beans? G'wan, do it from the heart
Really? We're mocking the deposit holders now for being brave enough to buy into the TVR rebirth, one which I'm assuming we're all desperate to see?

Buying a 'new' TVR was never going to be ruled by the head..

They have my full respect quite frankly.

We've all been glued to this very thread for a long time now, if those 500 deposit holders hadn't parted with their hard earned, we'd have zero chance of a new breed of TVRs.
I was one of the very first to put in my deposit. Day one. But since then the visual mess that is the car itself and the colossal st show that followed meant that I now have my deposit back thank god. I’m amazed anyone still thinks this will work.

Yes, my deposit went in ruled by the heart. But the resultant mess over the last four years means it time for the head to take precedence.

It would seem that deposit holders are people who have got to their position by being astute and pragmatic in business.
Or are they just old and so have no mortgages and/or childcare costs?

Yes, that may be true, but even so, not many astute people got to their station in life by putting a sizeable chunk of cash on a promise of magic beans. I'm just curious as to why they have.

To be honest the deposit isn’t that audacious in the grand scheme of things.

Ive bought a house before with out ever going inside it. You don’t like it it, you sell it. You drop some legal fees and stamp duty if you don’t flip it for more money, but that’s life.

Similarly with the deposit. You don’t like the car, you get a refund... as it stands that’s still possible. So I’m not getting too hung up on the money aspect, like I say there’s freedom. No ones been coerced into this.

It’s the face that bothers me most hehe

Do those with deposits have a line in the sand?

When is enough enough?

How long are you prepared to wait?

That hasn't answered the questions though.

When do you get bored and move on?

I think you've all been very patient already.

Best post in ages, rational even!

Without depositors money riding I’m sure most would have forgotten the car long ago.

I wonder why Les hasn't done a note even just to say that they're still moving forward. Something like that would make a huge difference - doesn't have to be 'news' as such but just something to let people know its still happening. Very odd.

This is the post from Facebook TVR (the Gordon Murray honour post 9th May) that mentioned the electronics issue.

"I've heard they have a serious issue with a Bosch system they designed the Griff electronics around (after Bosch went and changed it) and they need a complete redesign costing a fortune in more R&D to get the car into any production reality. Fingers crossed it happens."

How true this is, no idea, but could be a reason for a complete lack of comms.

December 2018 - asked for, and got my £5K returned.

In terms of comments of deposit holders having money to gamble/burn/risk/squander/whatever - I'd never bought a new 'quality' car in my life, and although I'd had TVRs and Porsches they were always quite a few years old. Currently my daily is a 13 year-old 110,000mile Jeep 5.7, and for nice days I do have a Maserati 4200 - but it's 2004 and worth peanuts too. I've worked for a lot of years and salted a little away over that time to but my 'special' new car at the time I semi-retired; it was my present to me after 40 years of ealy starts, late finishes, and often working away from home and I guessed it would be the last car I'd buy - it was to see me out. And the TVR fitted the bill - I so wanted that car. We're not all millionaires - we were not all just looking to put another toy in the collection. For me this was a real bucket-list adventure - a deposit on a new car, and what a car at that. I am deeply disappointed at that way things have turned out.
