This https://wiesmann.com/pages/project-gecko reminds me to another newco we are talking about!

And they also use the same marketing style, (sketches, wrapped car) and language (true DNA).

But they haven't unveiled the car yet, although this was announced to happen "in the course of September".
Silhouette, except the grille, is remarkable similar. The grille kills it for me, that's the one thing i never liked about the Wiesmanns. Will be pretty expensive.

Didn’t the original deal with mr Smolensky include ‘the moulds’... which would suggest newco could have used them.. stunning styling with a few simple updates, revised underpinnings, power train, safety compliance... imagine a modern Cerb with 6 or 7 hundred horsepower... look at what Eagle did with the e type shape... or Singer with the early 911 bodies... the possibilities were endless.. now that would have really been something...
I for one, would not want 700bhp in an old TVR chassis.

Hence why I said revised underpinnings

This thread has turned into one big TVR piss take.

I wonder what Petrol Ted would make of it?

Surely it’s a long time since Ted has owned a TVR ?? I recall him having an S back in the late 90s and then a Cerb for a short period in the early 2000’s after which he had more money and therefore a Porsche and a lambo?? Suspect he wouldn’t care that this thread is all over the place, it’s just a reflection of TVRs own problems.

biggrin

The reason I ask is PH initially started out in the early days with a very strong TVR bias, but now the current "brand" seems to a laughing stock.

Great shame.

Apologies in advance I'm going to woffle....

Great shame is absolutely right... My take is... PW sold to a Russian interest, a business interest, not a car enthused group of like minded people who wanted to preserve and continue a great legacy... That's step one.. Step two was Russian business interest discovering they hadn't bought huge money spinner and effort required wasn't worth it so dropped it.. into no mans land.... This was the TVR no longer phase.. Then we get stage three... Stage three is really exciting, rights obtained from former Russian interests, lots of backing, enthusiasts totally involved, CEO track record with AMR and Le mans GT series... awesome.... GM involvement.. even more awesome... then... OMG Cosworth are on side... TVR is back.. All TVR owners and fans are over the moon.. this is great news for a classic and much loved British sports car manufacturer and British car manufacturing in general... Excellent... Love it... This is a great recipe what can possibly go wrong....

Lots.. it would seem... I never put a deposit down for two reasons, first, never be the first, and secondly, I thought it was pug ugly, and still do.... apologies to those of you who don't....

As Wacky Racer said, great shame.....

Les, fall on your sword... it's the honorable thing to do...... wink

Far from falling on swords, TVR seem to think it’s all systems go go go after the last update. Issues?: nothing to see here.

However the lack of anything meaningful and promises of more jam tomorrow haven’t changed anyone’s view. I can’t help thinking it’s over now, they need to be straight and I doubt that’ll happen.

How revised could they be in order to take double the horsepower, while retaining the same dimensions and bodywork and homologating them for road use in modern times?

What you are suggesting is a pipe dream.

….Back in the day (well maybe 2008?).

Watch this!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASQxFLHxS3M.

The Enzo owner was mightily p***ed. The Cerb was running an LS2 with 'charger - had been on the rollers for just over 500 horses...The owner has now changed the pulleys on the supercharger belt drive for a few more.

There are still many people who love the cars!

To be fair to the Enzo, the cerb might as well have been a Skoda with a supercharged LS engine in it. It was nothing to do with the car.

The straight line is always a joke for me. Even a Mercedes G with a powerfull engine is able to beat a lot of good handling cars. But if you add some bends...
In that case, it would be interesting to see if the 2 millions of pounds between them could be justified smile

I wanted to know if a Mercedes AMG GT-S edition 1 could be something for me in the future, it has 510ps stock and does 3.8 sec to 100km/h and the dash/interior looked good to me, at least in the pictures.

So today I went over to a sports car seller in my town (sells a lot to and from football players so it seems)
they had one for sale.

And wow, the seats are perfect for me, also the grippy fat small steering wheel with edition 1 in it, lovely, and then the fighter jet plane interior/dash/console, wow, loved it.

Only thing a bit less? from the driver's seat, the long bonnet, or at least it gives you that look, I guess you have to get used to that, or stretch my neck a bit longer/higher ;-)

anyhow, lovely car and looks, although personally I would not buy a white one that was there (also not for such price), but the looks are great.

this one for example, when you sit in the car, it gives a very special feeling, lovely interior those pictures used does not do it justice.

Only problem is, that they don´t go around proper bends.
They are always in the way in the alps.
